Knock-type writing instrument
To provide a clicking type writing instrument capable of reliably suppressing volatilization of ink from the pen tip at least before the start of use. The clicking type writing instrument A has a refill 20 provided in a barrel cylinder 10; a pen tip 30 configured to discharge ink from an ink storage member 18 accommodated in the refill 20 by capillary action and to be allowed to be projected from and retracted into a front end of the barrel cylinder 10 by means of a clicking mechanism 70 provided in the barrel cylinder 10; and at least a seal member 40, arranged around an outer periphery of the pen tip 30 near a front end side of the pen tip, and formed with a through-hole 42 in a center of the seal member, through which the pen tip 30 can slidably move back and forth when the pen tip 30 is housed inside the barrel cylinder 10.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR EXTENDING AND RETRACTING THE WRITING ELEMENT OF A SELF-RETAINING WRITING INSTRUMENT
The method and apparatus described herein allows for the automatic retraction and extension of the writing element of a bistable self-retaining writing instrument. The method and apparatus consists of a writing element that is joined to the end of a flexible tube or material. These are inserted through a longitudinal channel formed along the outer surface of the writing instrument and are anchored only at the end opposite the writing element. When the bistable self-retaining writing instrument transitions from a coiled to straight configuration the writing element is automatically exposed. Conversely, when pushed into its coiled configuration the writing element slides back into the channel and is thereby protected. The flexible tube or material may also act as a reservoir for a writing substrate such as ink.

APPARATUS FOR SELECTABLY PROVIDING MULTIPLE COLORS OF INK FROM A MARKER PEN
A writing device can be configured to provide ink or a colored dye upon a piece of paper or other medium. Such a writing device can include a plurality of separately extendable writing elements and a housing with a plurality of holes upon a terminal end of the housing, each hole providing a dedicated outlet hole for one of the writing elements, the housing comprising one of an elliptical cross section, a circular cross section, and a rounded off square cross section.
Rotating-operation type of writing tool
When the rear axial cylinder (3) is rotated, the cam cylinder (17) is also rotated, thereby the cam protrusion (18a) moves forward by means of the functions of the cam groove (17a) and the slit (18b), so that the slider (18) moves forward to cause the writing body (14) to move forward against a biasing force by the biasing member (15). The cam cylinder (17) and the rear axial cylinder (3) are fixed via the adjustment mechanism of rotational positions (17n).
