STYLUS WITH AN ADJUSTABLE DIMENSION
A stylus includes a cylindrical shaped housing and a shell. The shell is rotatably connected to the housing. A cross-sectional area of the housing has a first dimension along a first axis and a second dimension along a second axis, the first axis perpendicular to the second axis. The first dimension is smaller than the second dimension. A cross-sectional area including both the shell and the housing has a third dimension along the first axis that is substantially the same as the first dimension while the shell is in a first position and substantially the same as the second dimension while the shell is in a second position.
Writing utensil safety sheath
A writing utensil safety sheath comprising a body having a first open end and an internal channel. The internal channel is sized to retain at least a portion of a writing utensil in either a first extended position or a retracted position. The writing utensil safety sheath also has a grip affixed to and extending beyond the first open end of the body. The grip contacts a writing end of the writing utensil when the writing utensil is in the first extended position thus retaining the writing utensil in the first extended position while writing. When a force applied to the writing end exceeds a predetermined amount, the writing utensil retracts back into the body by sliding through the grip into the first open end of the body.

Writing instrument
A thermochromic writing instrument including a writing body, storing a thermochromic ink therein, stored in a barrel; an operation body provided in the barrel to be operated to longitudinally move the writing body; a nib of the writing body configured to be capable of appearing from a front end of the writing instrument, wherein the writing instrument 1 further includes a friction unit, for rubbing handwriting in the thermochromic ink and capable of thermally changing the color of the handwriting by frictional heat generated at that time, and at least one clip body as the operation body, the friction unit 10 is provided at a rear end of the barrel, and the clip body is provided in an area other than the rear end of the barrel.

Ergonomic hand-held instrument
An improved ergonomic hand-held instrument is provided with a housing having external surfaces defining contours which ergonomically engage surfaces of a user's thumb, index finger and middle finger when the user grasps the instrument, to provide a large surface area of contact between the user's hand and the instrument. The increased area of contact, compared to traditional designs, decreases the required level of applied unit area pressure, and also provides for greater control in manipulating the instrument by a wide range of users. The housing holds a removable cartridge having a working end or tip. The working end may be a pen, pencil, scalpel, knife, stylus, brush or similar tool. The top outer surface of the instrument includes an index finger compression surface for placement of the user's index finger. Base for storage of the instrument and at least one removable cartridge is also disclosed.

WRITING INSTRUMENT HAVING COLOR INDICATION-CHANGEABLE GRIP
A writing instrument has a gripping tube rotatably fitted on a front portion of a barrel. At the front portion of the barrel, plural identifying marks having different identification characteristics, such as color, are disposed in parallel in a circumferential direction of the barrel. A window portion is provided in the gripping tube through which is visible an identifying mark selected by rotating the gripping tube relative to the barrel. When the user rotates the gripping tube to the position where the chosen color is visible through the window portion, a locking pawl on the barrel engages with a locking groove at the rear end of the gripping tube to lock the gripping tube in this position. Once locked in position, the gripping tube cannot accidentally rotate thereby preventing a change of colors appearing at the window portion even if the writing instrument is subjected to shock or vibration.
