According to various exemplary embodiments, there may be provided an electronic device including a housing having a first side and an opposite second side, a display disposed between the first side and the second side, an ElectroMagnetic Resonance (EMR) sensor pad disposed between the display and the second side, a pen placing space disposed between the first side and the second side to accommodate an electronic pen, and a detecting member disposed in vicinity of the electronic pen for detecting the electronic pen when the electronic pen is fully inserted into the pen placing space.

A magnetic writing implement that includes a shaft, a first magnet embedded within the shaft, a stylus nub coupled to a nut that has a first threading and a fourth threading, and a tip that includes a writing medium and extends from the shaft. The magnetic writing implement has a writing configuration that exposes the writing medium when the first threading engages a second threading and a stylus configuration that covers the writing medium when a third threading engages the fourth threading.

A writing instrument comprising a self-healing seal component to prevent drying out of the writing instrument and an elastomeric support to protect the self-healing seal component.

The method and apparatus described herein allows for the automatic retraction and extension of the writing element of a bistable self-retaining writing instrument. The method and apparatus consists of a writing element that is joined to the end of a flexible tube or material. These are inserted through a longitudinal channel formed along the outer surface of the writing instrument and are anchored only at the end opposite the writing element. When the bistable self-retaining writing instrument transitions from a coiled to straight configuration the writing element is automatically exposed. Conversely, when pushed into its coiled configuration the writing element slides back into the channel and is thereby protected. The flexible tube or material may also act as a reservoir for a writing substrate such as ink.

A writing instrument including: a body extending longitudinally along a central axis; a resilient element fixed to at least one portion of the body. The resilient element of the at least one portion of the body is in one piece and is made of at least partially amorphous metal alloy.

A writing instrument has a front body with an ergonomic grasping segment asymmetrical relative to a first longitudinal plane, and a rear body asymmetrical relative to a second longitudinal plane. A retractable ink pen including an elongate ink cartridge having a writing end and an exposed ink opening, wherein the writing end moves from a retracted position to an extended position for writing. The retractable ink pen includes a cap including a recess with an inner surface having one of: i) a position structure, and ii) both a first locator and a second locator spaced a distance from the first locator along a first longitudinal axis. The retractable ink pen further includes an elongate barrel including an outer surface having the other of the position structure and both the first locator and the second locator, wherein the position structure is located at the first locator when the writing end is in the retracted position and wherein the locating structure is located at the second locator when the writing end is in the extended position.

A ballpoint pen wherein an outer member (50) covering the outer circumference of a holder (21) covers a section that reaches as far as a narrowed section (23) of the holder (21) and has an outer member tip end portion (51). An ink spreads between the writing ball (30) and the contact section of the writing surface and between the outer member tip end portion (51) and the contact section of the writing surface, in which the writing ball (30) and the outer member tip end portion (51) are in contact with the writing surface at the same time. The relative position of the outer member (50) and the holder (21) can be changed from a holder protruding position to a holder retracted position wherein the writing ball (30) and the tip section of the outer member (50) can be in contact with the writing surface at the same time.

A writing instrument that includes a barrel extending along a longitudinal axis (A) and a tip mounted at the front of the barrel, further including a protective sleeve for the tip, the sleeve being mounted coaxially on the barrel and movable relative to the barrel between a protective position where it covers the tip and a retracted position where it exposes the tip to allow writing. The sleeve includes an inner wall which includes a helical cam engaging with a guide element formed on the barrel so that the sleeve is movable in translation combined with rotation.
