In a drawer-style washing appliance, such as a drawer-style dishwasher 100, a tub flange 301 is provided with drainage-facilitating features 167 to encourage draining of any pooled washing liquid on the upper surface of the tub flange during a washing cycle, which would otherwise remain there after opening of the drawer. The drainage features may be one or more ridge 168 or channel on/in the surface of the tub flange, particularly at or about the inner peripheral edge 304 of the tub flange. Alternatively, the drainage-facilitating features may be provided on the underside of the tub lid 201 in a region that will come into contact with the tub flange when the lid is lowered to seal the tub during a washing cycle.

A single cavity dishwashing appliance with one or more drawers is disclosed. The drawer may be moveable between a closed position and an open position. A drip shield may be provided to prevent washing fluid from dripping onto the floor or onto the inner components of the dishwashing appliance when the drawer is in the open position.

Appliance with closure element having an operative device
