A multi-purpose bit assembly is shown and described herein. The tool assembly may comprise one or more body members. A body member may comprise a magnet, a main body and a bit. The main body may comprise various sides, one or more of which may include one or more apertures on its surface and one or more bits protruding therefrom. The bit may include a bit body and a bit head. The body members may include differently configured bits. Bits may be inserted into the apertures to connect the body members. The bit assembly may comprise one or more attachment members. An attachment member may attach two or more bits together.

An electronic smart pen is disclosed that comprises a housing with a twist ring and a marker that is configured to be in an exposed state or in a retracted state. In the exposed state a tip of the marker is exposed from the housing, while the retracted state has the tip being enclosed by the housing. The smart pen also comprises an internal power switch that toggles the electronics of the smart pen between an on-state and an off-state. Rotating the twist ring provides a combined mechanism to move the marker from the retracted state to the exposed state, while also toggling the power switch from the off-state to the on-state so that the marker is automatically extended when the pen is turned on.

An input device for an electronic device includes a circuit unit including a reactance element with a variable reactance, and a recording member configured to record on an intermediate medium and coupled with the reactance element. As a recording on the intermediate medium proceeds, writing pressure is transferred to the recording member so that the reactance of the reactance member may vary.

A convertible writing instrument can be put into either a compact capped configuration, 3 to 4 inches in length, or an extended writing configuration, 5 to 6 inches in length. A relatively elongated cap, which covers most of the relatively shortened pen member in the compact configuration, can be re-attached to the back of the pen, so as to lengthen the instrument in preparation for writing. Multiple interchangeable caps and rear modules can be coupled to the pen member to provide a variety of appearances and functions.

A multifunctional instrument includes a housing, a writing member positioned in the housing with a writing tip accessible from the housing, a stylus positioned at one end of the housing and having an aperture, and an illumination device positioned inside the stylus, wherein the illumination device emits a light through the aperture when activated.

A device for capturing selfie images is integrated into a writing device. The device includes an extendable (e.g., telescopic) section, such that when refracted the device is useful as a writing instrument (e.g., a pen, stylus, etc.), and when extended, provides a way of capturing selfie images, or other images that benefit from a point of view that is removed from the user beyond the user's reach. Advantages of one or more embodiments of the device include low cost, in some cases through the use of an optical trigger rather than more complex radio frequency (e.g., Bluetooth) transmission. Other advantages can include portability as a result of the device being integrated into a writing device, which is more compact than a smartphone
