MAILER METHOD AND APPARATUS
A mailer can include an envelope and an enclosure. A method can include: a) providing a blank with envelope and enclosure portions connected by a joint; b) folding and securing the blank such that the envelope portion forms a pouch, the pouch substantially containing the enclosure portion, the pouch being open at one end and having major surfaces, one major surface including the joint at or adjacent the open end, and another major surface including a closure flap extending from the open end beyond the joint; c) reversibly deflecting the flap away from the joint to thereby expose the joint; d) severing the joint while it is exposed; e) folding the closure flap and securing it to the one major surface to close the pouch and secure the enclosure within the pouch. An apparatus can be configured to carry out the above method.
Enclosing device, envelope processing apparatus, and image forming system
An enclosing device to insert an enclosure into an envelope conveyed to an enclosing position includes an envelope conveyor and an enclosing unit. The envelope conveyor conveys the envelope to the enclosing position. The enclosing unit opens a frontage of the envelope such that the enclosure is inserted into the envelope that has reached the enclosing position and includes an opening amount adjuster to adjust an opening amount of the frontage when the enclosure is inserted into the envelope. The opening amount adjuster adjusts the opening amount, depending on a flap length and a body length. The flap length is a length of a flap of the envelope in a conveyance direction in which the envelope is conveyed to the enclosing position. The body length is a length of a body of the envelope in the conveyance direction.
Mailer Assembly With Pockets
An assembly for a mailer is described. The assembly supports the mailing of articles such as trading cards and includes an insert defining a set of pockets shaped to receive the articles. The pockets are formed between attachment members of the insert and are arranged adjacent to each other along a length of the insert. Each pocket includes an open end arranged toward an upper end of the insert formed by a terminating edge of the insert. Further, each pocket includes a closed end arranged toward a lower end of the insert and formed by a folded edge of the insert. In one or more implementations, the assembly further includes a backer and a spacer shaped to fit against opposing surfaces of the insert that increase a rigidity and flatness of the assembly.
