An embossing tool comprised of a pressing plate or endless belt that includes a structured surface, a first gloss level over the full area of the structured surface, and further, different gloss levels in several selected areas of the structured surface. The gloss levels are created by mechanical post-treatment and/or chemical post-treatment. A method for producing the embossing tool is also involved. The structured surface is provided with a first gloss level over the full area and receives further, different gloss levels in several selected areas in further work steps. An embossing die is created by printing multiple ink layers (530, 540) in superposition thereby to build up a printed relief pattern (510) in accordance with received design data specifying a design to be embossed. The design data is modified after receipt to introduce into the printed relief pattern to be built, one or more channels (610) which extend depth-wise through multiple ink layers of the printed relief pattern (510) and serve to fully or partially segment the printed relief pattern.

A craftwork accessory may provide a portable and/or easy-to-use tool to help users' accurately and repeatedly apply stamp impressions and the like to items such as cardstock. The accessory may include a base portion, one or more elevated side portions and cover portion. The side portions may define a workspace for arranging the item. The cover portion may be movably attached to the base portion or a side portion, for example, by one or more hinges. In operation, the item and stamp may be aligned in the workspace and the cover portion may be pressed onto the stamp to stick the stamp to the cover portion. The cover may then be opened, the stamp may be inked, and the cover portion may be closed and pressed onto the item to stamp the item. The accessory may include alignment indicia on the base portion, side portions and/or cover portion to facilitate placement of the item and/or stamp. The accessory may also include fastening mechanisms, such as magnetic elements, to facilitate placement of the item and/or stamp.

A stamping machine is configured for stamping with a stamping head onto an article, The stamping machine includes a camera and a computer system. The computer system includes a display. The computer system is configured to capture from the camera an image of the article prior to the stamping and presents the image on the display. A user selects a symbol using the computer system prior to the stamping onto the article. The user using the computer system, positions the selected symbol as a displayed symbol superimposed on the image of the article.

A data record which identifies the press plate 1 or endless belt or use and/or manufacturing data of the press plate 1 or endless belt is stored in the memory. The acquisition of use and/or manufacturing data permits the storage of a precise history of a press plate 1 or endless belt and wireless transmission of this history to a receiver. On the basis of the use data, billing can be carried out which depends not only on the duration of use but also on the press strokes actually carried out.

A flat embossed printing machine for embossing a flat material includes a flatbed press having a tool plate and an embossing table, a foil web guidance and transport device for guiding at least one embossing foil web over the embossing table of the flatbed press along a foil transport path, a flat material guidance for guiding a flat material through the flatbed press along a flat material transport path, and a control device for operating the flat embossed printing machine. The foil web guidance and transport device subsequently to the flatbed press considered in the transport direction of the flat material includes a peel-away element, arranged above the flat material transport path as well as behind the foil transport path, for holding back and peeling the embossing foil web away from the flat material on transporting the flat material away out of the flatbed press.
