Process for surface modification of materials
The present invention relates to surface modification of materials. In particular the invention relates to a process for surface modification of polymeric materials to make the surface non-stick in order to reduce the ability of materials to stick on it and thus provide an easy flow. The process comprises embossing the surface of an object with a pattern comprising micropillars having different shapes (circle, square, rectangular, polygonal prismatic) with an equivalent circular diameter, height and pitch in the range 10-200 microns; applying a layer of adhesive to get a coverage of 0.1 to 5 mg/cm on the embossed surface either by spray coating or dip coating; depositing 0.2 to 1.2 mg/cm of hydrophobic particles wherein the hydrophobic particles have a particle size in the range 0.1 to 10 microns.

Multi-function heat foil embossing machine
A multi-purpose heat foil embossing machine and a heat foil adapter are disclosed herein. According to an embodiment, the heat foil adapter includes an injection molded body, a metal heat plate configured in the cavity of the molded body, a heating element, a temperature control system configured to maintain metal heat plate temperature, and a polycarbonate lid. According to another embodiment, the multi-purpose heat foil embossing machine is of platform and roller type construction wherein platform provides a flatbed working area and roller is moved over it that eliminates need to sandwich folder between plastic mats and push the mat between the rollers. According to another embodiment, the heat plate adapter is configured within a cavity on the platform of the embossing machine with electric connectivity.
CRAFTWORK TOOLS AND KITS
A craftwork accessory may provide a portable and/or easy-to-use tool to help users' accurately and repeatedly apply stamp impressions and the like to items such as cardstock. The accessory may include a base portion, one or more elevated side portions and a hinged cover portion. The side portions may define a workspace for arranging the item. In operation, the item and stamp may be aligned in the workspace, during which a magnetic removable corner piece may be used to assist with alignment of the item, and the cover portion may be pressed onto the stamp to stick the stamp to the cover portion. The cover may then be opened, the stamp may be inked, and the cover portion may be closed and pressed onto the item to stamp the item. The accessory may also include fastening mechanisms, such as magnetic elements, to facilitate placement of the item and/or stamp.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR HAND-REPLICATING EMBOSSED METAL ARTWORK
The invention is a method and apparatus for hand-replicating original embossed metal artwork by transferring the three dimensional image of the original design onto one or more molds, including in the preferred embodiment, two moldsone having a positive image of the embossed design, and the other having a negative imagewherein they can be used sequentially, one after the other, to hand-craft and recreate the original design onto additional metal sheets and thus create multiple replicas of the original.
Cushion cover, in particular for a vehicle seat, and method for producing a cushion cover
A cushion cover (100), in particular for a vehicle seat (1), includes a surface layer (102) and at least one embossing (120) in the surface layer (102). A cavity (122) on the rear face of the at least one embossing (120) is at least partly filled with an insert (106). A method for producing a cushion cover (100), in particular for a vehicle seat (1), is also provided, including producing a surface layer (102) and at least one embossing (120). The surface layer (102) is provided with the at least one embossing (120) in a tool (10), and a rear face of the at least one embossing (120) is at least partly filled with an insert (106) in an additional method step.
Etched plate for forming a molded construction component
The present invention relates to a door skin comprising an exterior surface having outer portions lying on a first plane, spaced grooves recessed from the plane of the outer portions, and tonal portions having a planar area and a plurality of spaced depressions recessed from the plane of said planar area. The present invention is also directed to a method of etching a plate, for use with a molded die set, for embossing a wood grain pattern in the door skin, and the etched plate formed therefrom.
Method and device for manufacturing products having a surface provided with embossments, and products obtained thereby
A method for manufacturing a product having a surface provided with embossments, includes bringing a material web is in contact with a roller. The roller is provided with a relief at its surface, with which, via this relief, embossments are formed in the material web. The roller has a circumference of which, or at least certain parts thereof that are variable, or alternatively the circumference of the roller is variable by making use of embossing elements, wherein the mutual angular position thereof is adjustable.
Door skin, a method of etching a plate for forming a wood grain pattern in the door skin, and an etched plate formed therefrom
A door skin featuring a facing having an exterior surface and an interior surface can be provided. A wood grain pattern portion can be formed in the exterior surface of the facing. The wood grain pattern portion can feature a plurality of grooves formed in the exterior surface of the facing, the grooves are recessed from a first plane of the exterior surface, and tonal portions formed in the exterior surface of the facing. The tonal portions can include at least a first protrusion, a second protrusion, and a third protrusion. Spacing between the first protrusion and the second protrusion can be different from spacing between the second protrusion and the third protrusion.
