Lower lateral rails and upper later rails may connect the first rectangular end to the second rectangular end. A planar drying rack may be disposed between the upper lateral rails and the lower lateral rails. An upper interior volume may be defined by a top surface of the planar drying rack, inner edges of the upper lateral rails and upper edges of the top rails of the first rectangular end and the second rectangular end. The planar drying rack may be free of upwardly extending projections within the upper interior volume.

A drying system having a wicking member defined by a top-surface, a bottom-surface, and a thickness; wherein the drying system for items includes the wicking member suitable for supporting the items for drying in an ambient environment. The bottom-surface is able to be placed on a planar-surface (such as a table or counter or the like) to support the wicking member, the bottom-surface adjacent the planar-surface when used. The wicking member has pleated vertical members protruding upwardly from the top-surface. The wicking member may be made of terry cloth or other suitable fabric that is flexible.

A foldable dish rack having a case including a base, a lid, and a side wall extending from the periphery of at least a portion of the base, and a mat including a plurality of projections and a first mat hinge dividing a first mat portion and a second mat portion that provides for the second mat portion to fold relative the first mat portion from a planar configuration to a folded configuration whereby the second mat portion rests flat on the first mat portion, with the lid connected to a portion of the side wall by a case hinge such that the lid is capable of converting from a closed configuration against the side walls to an open configuration approximately perpendicular to a plane of the base.

In some arrangements, the combination drying mat, rack and storage container may further include a flexible and expandable band pivotably attached to the container, wherein the band is arranged to pivot and substantially secure the rack in the second position.
