A lithophane display unit includes a base having an opening formed in a base top surface. A receptacle extends downward from the opening into a portion of base. Display unit includes a light source positioned at or proximal to a bottom of receptacle. Display unit includes a stand piece having a top and a bottom. The bottom of stand piece is insertable into receptacle with the bottom of stand piece in proximity to light source. Stand piece includes a roughened surface formed on at least a portion of a front side of stand piece. Stand piece includes a pair of structures disposed on opposing sides of stand piece and extending from a top of stand piece to or proximate to the bottom of stand piece. The pair of structures includes a pair of slots extending from tops of the structures to bottoms of the structures. Slots may receive a lithophane.

Disclosed is a decorative element (1) comprising two substantially parallel panels (2, 3) which are arranged at a distance from each other and at least one of which (2, 3) is at least partially permeable to visible light, and a plurality of precious stones (6) that are disposed between the panels (2, 3). A device (4) for fixing the precious stones (6) in a specific position is located between the panels (2, 3). Said position-fixing device (4) includes compartments (5), inside each of which exactly one precious stone (6) is disposed. At least one of the panels (2, 3) directly adjoins the compartments (5).

Stand piece includes a pair of structures disposed on opposing sides of stand piece and extending from a top of stand piece to or proximate to the bottom of stand piece. The pair of structures includes a pair of slots extending from tops of the structures to bottoms of the structures. Slots may receive a lithophane.

Disclosed herein are applique assemblies (200) comprising a substrate (210) comprising a first non-planar surface defining a recess and a glass sheet (230) having a thickness of less than about 3 mm, wherein the glass sheet is configured to fit within the recess, and further wherein the glass sheet is cold formed to conform to the first non-planar surface. The applique assembly may include a chemically strengthened or non-chemically strengthened glass sheet having a thickness ranging from about 0.1 mm to about 2 mm. The applique assembly may be used to cover structural elements on the exterior of a vehicle.

A door having a front face with a transparent portion and a decorative insert set behind. The decorative insert presents a thematic scene as desired by the user that may be easily changed. The door further enhances the display of the decorative insert by providing selectively controlled illumination and an accompanying audio presentation related to the insert's theme.

A light source causes hollow objects to glow in the dark (GID), thereby extending the operating period of light-activated materials in gazing globes and other decorative or ornamental objects. The light source may be provided as part of a conversion kit, enabling objects from different manufacturers to be converted to GID objects following purchase. A base unit includes the light emitter supported to illuminate the object from the inside out. The base unit further includes at least one solar panel facing into the interior of the object, and one or more batteries charged by the solar panel to power the light emitter. A device is used to couple the base unit to the rim of the object. In the preferred embodiment, the device for coupling the base unit to the rim of the object is an elastomeric ring that stretches over the rim of the object, thereby forming a seal.
