FREE WHEEL ASSEMBLY WITH FRONT CLUTCHES FOR A BICYCLE
A free wheel assembly with front clutches comprising a hub sleeve rotatable on a hub pin and a cassette rotatable on the hub pin, a first annular body rotatable on the hub pin and comprising a first crown gear, a second annular body associated with the hub sleeve and comprising a matching second crown gear facing the first crown gear. The first annular body is axially movable relative to the second annular body between a motion transmission configuration and a free wheel configuration and coupling members operate between the first annular body and the cassette. In the free wheel configuration, rotation of the cassette relative to the first annular body forces the coupling members to axially translate the first annular body towards the second annular body, and magnetic members active on the first annular body and opposing the rotation of the first annular body with respect to the hub pin.
System and method for a practical synthetic fiber tension member to rod connection
A method and system for creating a hybrid tensile member combining a synthetic fiber cable and a rigid rod. An anchor is attached to one or more ends of the synthetic cable. The anchor is used to connect an end of the fiber cable to a length of conventional rod, preferably through the use of a swaging operation. Each rod segment includes a standard end feature on its free endsuch as a threaded shaft or J-bend. The hybrid assembly can preferably be retrofitted to applications that now use a conventional rod.
Tire inflation device
An air deflector that is at least partially disposable within a tubeless tire of a bicycle wheel includes a body. The body includes at least one wall defining an air input end and an air output end of the body. The body is attachable to a valve of the tubeless tire at the air input end, such that when air is introduced into the body via the valve, at least some of the air is deflectable by one or more walls of the at least one wall out of the body at the air output end.
WHEEL FOR A BICYCLE AND BICYCLE EQUIPPED THEREWITH
Wheel for a bicycle, particularly a balance bicycle, the wheel is provided with integrated lighting and an integrated electromagnetic power source which provides the lighting with power as soon as the wheel is driven when riding the bicycle.
TUBELESS VALVE ASSEMBLY
A bicycle wheel comprises a rim and a valve assembly. The rim includes a radially inner wall having an inner opening and a radially outer wall having an outer opening. A first portion of the rim includes a first securing feature (e.g., inner threads). The valve assembly is positioned in the inner opening and outer opening and includes a second securing feature (e.g., outer threads) engaging the first securing feature. The rim can include a plate that defines the first engaging feature. The valve assembly preferably includes a valve stem and a resilient bumper coupled to the valve stem and aligned with a second portion of the rim. The valve assembly can further include a seal member compressed between the valve stem and the rim. Preferably, the seal member is positioned in an annular groove in an underside of an enlarged head of the valve stem.
Bicycle hub and spoke arrangement
A bicycle hub and spoke arrangement is provided. The bicycle hub and spoke arrangement includes a bicycle axle supported for rotation by a hub shaft. A plurality of flanges extend radially from the hub shaft. Each of the plurality of flanges has a plurality of apertures. A plurality of spokes, each having a first end, an opposing second end and a body extending therebetween. The second end of each of the plurality of spokes is connected to an outer rim. The first end of each of the plurality of spokes is connected to one of the plurality of circumferentially oriented apertures of the plurality of flanges in a manner such as to create three areas of contact between the first end of each of the plurality of spokes and the associated flange, thereby strengthening a J bend area of the spoke and address spoke failure and shimmy.
Bicycle rim and wheel
A bicycle rim and/or wheel are provided. The bicycle rim and/or wheel includes a single wall formed into the bicycle rim. The wall is formed of composite material having a spoke attachment portion and a tire attachment portion formed therein. The composite material may include at least two different materials, or fibers used as reinforcement material, forming layers of a thickness of the rim.
TIRE WITH INVERSE CASING CONSTRUCTION
A vehicle tire comprises first and second bead cores spaced apart from each other, a first casing layer wrapped around the bead cores, a second casing layer wrapped around the bead cores, and a tread layer. The first casing layer has first edge sections that overlap with each other at a zenith of the tire and terminate at first edges on opposing sides of the zenith. The second casing layer has second edge sections that do not overlap with each other and that terminate at second edges that are each substantially aligned with one of the first edges. The first and second casing layers are each made of a single unidirectional ply that are in different directions to each other. The sidewall regions and the zenith comprise four plies of casing layers throughout the tire. The tire can further include first and second sidewall reinforcements (e.g., rubber strips) positioned in the first and second sidewall regions.
Vehicle wheel spoke connection
A vehicle wheel spoke connection, including: a rim; a hub; a plurality of spokes extending between the rim and hub with a first portion connected to the rim, a second portion opposed to said first portion and connected to the hub, a span portion between the rim and the hub, and an applied tensile load along the span portion; a bracing element including the rim and/or hub. The spoke has a longitudinal axis and is composed of reinforcement fibers in a matrix. The external surface of the spoke includes a pre-formed configured surface comprising a multiplicity of laterally outwardly projecting engagement surfaces that are longitudinally spaced. The spoke is connected to the bracing element by a longitudinal engagement comprising a multiplicity of longitudinally spaced overlie engagements associated with the spoke engagement surfaces. The longitudinal engagement supports the tensile load.
BICYCLE WHEEL AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING BICYCLE WHEEL
A bicycle wheel includes a first panel member including a first rim portion for mounting a tire, a first hub mounting end connected to a hub, a first spoke portion for connecting the first rim portion and the first hub mounting end, a second panel member having a second rim portion for mounting the tire, a second hub mounting end connected to the hub, and a second spoke portion for connecting the second rim portion and the second hub mounting end, wherein the bicycle wheel is formed by joining the first panel member and the second panel member together such that the first panel member and the second panel member are symmetrical to each other about a line passing through the hub and the rim.
