A wheel for vehicle 1 is provided with a disc 10 and a rim 20 and has a braking device 30 housed therein. An annular flange portion 41 protruded inward from a bead seat portion 22 in a radial direction of the wheel 1 is disposed at an end of the rim 20 on a side opposite to the disc 10. The flange portion 41 has an inclined surface 41a on a side opposite to the disc 10. The flange portion 41 is inclined toward the disc 10 in a direction toward a central axis L of the wheel 1. The inclined surface 41a acts to reduce air resistance at the wheel 1 while the vehicle is running and guides a portion of an underfloor airflow to an inner space of the wheel 1 to secure an amount of air for cooling the braking device 30.

AIRCRAFT WHEEL BRAKING DEVICE

A braking device for braking a wheel of an aircraft, a hub of which is mounted rotatably on an axle includes a stack of discs threaded on a torque tube which is attached to the axle and equipped internally with a heat shield extending opposite an outer surface of the hub facing the stack of discs to protect the hub from heat radiation generated by the stack of discs. The heat shield includes a tubular body which is coaxial to the torque tube and retaining tabs which are resiliently deformable and secured to the tubular body, each of the retaining tabs and an inner surface of the torque tube including additional raised portions to engage with one another so as to axially immobilize the heat shield inside the torque tube.

Segmented wheel protector

A protector for a wheel is formed from a plurality of segments. Each segment is formed from a synthetic material and has an arcuate distal edge of a first radius, the distal edge forming a lip to engage a distal edge of the wheel. Each segment has at least two spoke adjacent edges and an arcuate proximal edge with a second radius less than the first radius. In some embodiments, the proximal edge defines a hook to engage an inner recess of the wheel. Each spoke adjacent edge is configured to reside near a spoke of the wheel during use. In some embodiments, a protrusion extended from the lip serves as a pinch point when a tire deforms during an impact event.
