The present invention relates to a multi-part rail wheel with a wheel tyre, a wheel body, an elastic body arranged between the wheel tyre and the wheel body and via which the wheel tyre is supported on the wheel body, and at least one clamping element attached to the wheel body from one end face, via which the elastic body is braced against the wheel body and the wheel tyre by clamping means acting on the wheel body, the wheel body consisting of a light metal material in the region where the clamping means act. The rail wheel guarantees secure bracing of the components with simple assembly and disassembly. This is achieved by at least one counter-bearing element being provided on the end face of the wheel body opposite the clamping element. The counter-bearing element consists of a material which has a higher strength than the wheel body material.

SYSTEM FOR REPROFILING A WHEEL SET OF A RAILWAY VEHICLE

A system for reprofiling a wheel set of a railway vehicle allows the center of rotation of the wheel set to move relative to supporting rollers. A cutting tool used to reprofile the wheel profile on a wheel set is moved relative to the center of rotation of the wheel set to maintain a constant distance between the center of rotation and the cutter. The system avoids mechanically forcing a constant location of the wheel set relative to the center of rotation.

A cast metal railroad car wheel includes a hub section, a tread section, and an uninterrupted annular web extending between and supporting the tread section on the hub section. The web includes a disk-shaped surface that is continuously concave and that does not include a reversely curved portion. A V-process casting process casts railroad wheels using a vacuum-process casting mold with opposing halves each partially filled with unbonded sand and sand-retaining-plastic film and a vacuum application port and that, when positioned together with the unbonded sand held to shape by vacuum and the film, define a cavity shaped to form a railroad car wheel. The V-process includes feeding molten metal into the cavity, cooling the molten metal, and releasing a vacuum to cause the sand to fall away from the railroad car wheel.

A railway wheel includes a rotation axis and a supporting disk which can be attachable on an axle at the rotation axis. The supporting disk can be coupled with a wheel rim for rolling on a rail. The wheel provides damping means of the rim with respect to the supporting disk which include elastic elements interposed between the disk and the rim, aside with respect to the median plane of the wheel. Each elastic element has its own geometrical axis and includes a first face facing the median plane of the wheel and a second face opposed thereto and facing the opposite part with respect the median plane of the wheel, so that the elastic element extends its thickness between the two faces. The first and second faces of each elastic element have the same concavity or convexity when considered in cross section in any plane containing the geometrical axis.
