Rim for a mountain bike
A rim for a mountain bike is provided, including a rim body having a rim well, a rim base and two lateral rim flanks and a hollow space device with a hollow space. A width of the rim body is larger than 30 mm. The hollow space device of the rim body is radially outwardly limited by the rim well and laterally and radially inwardly, by an inner enclosing wall including the rim base and the rim flanks. The radially inwardly enclosing wall forms an internal wall that is substantially closed, apart from the nipple accommodations. The rim well includes a plurality of recesses having a surface proportion of at least 10% of a surface of the rim well.
Bicycle wheel rim and process for manufacturing the same
A composite bicycle rim, and a process for manufacturing the rim, having a plurality of perforated spoke-attachment seats having spaced apart first and second areas of cut structural fibers. The second area has both end portions of cut structural fibers having a longitudinal dimension greater than the first area's cut structural fibers and continuous structural fibers. At least some of the end portions of the second area's cut structural fibers are mutually juxtaposed or interposed with respect to the second area's continuous structural fibers.
Bicycle wheel rim
A bicycle wheel rim having a circular base portion including a proximal surface and a distal surface, and a pair of integral sidewalls extending generally radially outward from an intersection region of the proximal surface and the distal surface. The distal surface of the rim has a central hump, a trough contiguous with the central hump extending axially outward from the hump, and a flat shelf immediately adjacent, contiguous with, and extending axially outward from the trough. Another embodiment of the invention is directed to a bicycle wheel including the embodied rim, a plurality a spokes engaged at respective ends thereof with the rim and a hub engaged with the plurality of spoke members at opposite ends thereof. Another embodiment of the invention is directed to a bicycle wheel assembly comprising the embodied wheel and a tube and/or tire mounted on the rim.
LACED WHEEL AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURE
A laced wheel manufactured from a one-piece casting, including both the hub portion and the rim portion. After casting and machining spoke interfaces, the hub and rim portions are separated and wire spokes are assembled.
Rim, rim component and rim assembly for a bicycle wheel and methods of manufacture thereof
A rim assembly for a bicycle wheel, comprising a rim having generally opposing first and second wall sections configured for mounting a bicycle tire, each of said first and second wall sections comprising an outwardly facing recess and; a rim component located in each recess, wherein each rim component has a lower density than the rim, wherein the rim components do not form part of a braking section of the bicycle wheel.
Wheel with flexible wide-body spokes
A wheel with flexible spokes, including a rim and hub, and spokes between the rim and hub made of fibrous material that causes the spokes to be both lighter in weight and stronger than comparable steel spokes. The spokes are also flexible and resilient such that they can bend while retaining their integrity and strength.
LIGHTWEIGHT PROCESS OF MANUFACTURING BICYCLE'S RIMS AND RIM STRUCTURE MANUFACTURED THEREBY
This invention is related to a lightweight process of manufacturing a bicycle's rim and a rim structure manufactured thereby. A rim frame comprising an inner frame, a cladding part, and a support part between the inner frame and the cladding part. The inner frame and the support part are milled to form plural through holes uniformly distributed thereon. The areas occupied by the through holes is 35% to 85% of a total surface of the inner frame and the support part. Moreover, a proper distance is formed between the adjacent through holes in the process, and a carbon fiber layer covers the outer surface of the rim frame. Therefore, the weight of the bicycle's rim is decreased, and the carbon fiber layer can stably attach on the rim frame to increase the structural strength of the rim.
Composite fiber bicycle wheels
Carbon fiber bicycle wheels are formed from parts cut from carbon fiber cloth and then joined together to form a rim, sidewalls, spokes, flanges and a center tunnel on which the flanges are mounted. The parts are then assembled, bonded together, and cured to form a wheel. During assembly, the spokes and the wheel are placed in tension by moving the flanges outwardly on the center tunnel after assembly and then bonding them in place to stiffen and strengthen the wheel. The spokes of the drive side of the rear wheel are specially shaped to accommodate torque transfer forces generated by pedaling.
