WHEEL FOR A VEHICLE
A wheel includes a rim that is at least partially made from a fiber reinforced plastic. The rim has an inner side directed to the hub region of the wheel and an outer side directed centrifugally away from the hub region of the wheel whereby the outer side comprises a well which is interconnected with an outer shoulder by a transition area. A wheel center is interconnected with the inner side of the rim by means of at least one fastening means wherein the at least one fastening means penetrates the rim via at least one opening that extends from the inner side of the rim to the outer side of the rim. At least one annular cover means is arranged at the outer side of the rim in circumferential direction around the wheel and thereby covers the at least one fastening means and/or the at least one opening.
Wheel
A wheel (10), including a rim (12) and a disc (14) by which the wheel (10) is attachable to a hub of a vehicle, the disc (14) being attachable to the rim (12) by means of generally axially extending fasteners (20), each of which passes through a respective opening (18) of the disc (14) and is received in a respective generally axially extending passage (24) provided in a connecting member (16) of the rim (12), wherein the wheel (10) also includes a spacer (40) having an axial depth to space the disc (14) from the connecting member (16) of the rim (12), the spacer (40) including an opening (42) through which a fastener (20) is receivable to connect the disc (14) to the connecting member (16) of the rim (10), and a locating member (44) which is receivable in a corresponding locating opening (26) in the connecting member of the rim (12).

Wheels having multiple-piece composite structures
A wheel includes a first hoop attached to a second hoop about a circumferential interface. The first and second hoops form at least part of an enclosed box structure positioned circumferentially around the wheel and adjacent to an outboard side of the wheel. The box structure may be formed at least in part by circumferential projections of the first hoop and the second hoop. The wheel may also include a central hub that optionally includes spokes. In some embodiments, the central hub may form part of the enclosed box structure. In some embodiments, a first hoop portion and a second hoop portion may be integral or unitary, with a box structure integrally formed between the hoop portions.
