HUB FOR HEAVY-DUTY VEHICLE
A hub for a heavy-duty vehicle and for mounting a wheel for relative rotation comprises a substantially cylindrical body having axially opposite end portions and a longitudinal central axis. Each of a pair of bearing receiving bores is formed in the cylindrical body at a respective axially opposite end portion of the cylindrical body. A circumferential envelope has an outer diameter and is formed on the cylindrical body about one of the pair of bearing receiving bores. A flange extends radially outward from the cylindrical body at a location between the pair of bearing receiving bores. A barrel portion of the cylindrical body extends between the flange and the circumferential envelope and has an outer diameter. The hub provides sufficient strength and minimizes weight by incorporating specific longitudinal profiles and ratios and/or relationships of various dimensions of the barrel portion 104.
Bearing assembly
A bearing assembly includes a hub element or a housing element, the hub element or the housing element having at least one opening, at least one intermediate element mounted in the at least one opening, the at least one intermediate element including at least one wave-shaped or lug-shaped projection in contact with the hub element or the housing element, and a first bearing element press-fit in the at least one intermediate element and a second bearing element mounted in the at least one opening, the second bearing element being movable relative to the first bearing element.
WHEEL HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY PACKAGING
A packaging system having an outboard guard and an outboard retainer cap. The outboard guard includes an outboard guard opening having a hole through the planform of the outboard guard, an engagement portion having an annular surface radially surrounding the outboard guard opening, an outboard bearing protector portion having an annular surface radially surrounding the engagement portion of the outboard guard, and an outer rim having an annular surface radially surrounding the outboard bearing protector portion. The outboard retainer cap is configured to be removably affixed to the outboard guard and includes an outboard alignment protrusion having a circular surface, an engagement portion having an annular surface radially surrounding the outboard alignment protrusion, and a retaining flange having an annular surface radially surrounding the engagement portion of the outboard retainer cap.
Method of producing wheel bearing apparatus
A method of producing a wheel bearing apparatus includes: performing positioning of a slinger of a sealing device with respect to a base shaft portion of a hub spindle by pressing a jig to press-fit the slinger to the base shaft portion, using an inner ring contacted surface, which is a step portion between a small-diameter shaft portion and a large-diameter shaft portion of the hub spindle, as a reference surface; and fitting, after the slinger is press-fitted to the base shaft portion, an inner ring to the small-diameter shaft portion such that the inner ring reaches a position at which the inner ring comes into contact with the inner ring contacted surface, in a state where an outer ring, rolling elements, and the sealing device have been assembled to the hub spindle.
Wheel End Assembly Having a Seal Interface with a Tone Ring
A wheel end assembly that has a spindle, a hub, a tone ring, and a seal assembly. The tone ring may be mounted to the hub and may have a tone ring opening that may extend around the spindle. The seal assembly may be disposed in the tone ring opening and may extend from the spindle to the tone ring.
Method for manufacturing rolling bearing unit
Construction is achieved that is capable of preventing the formation of radial streaks in the tip-end surfaces of teeth of hub-side face splines 21. When a swing center distance is taken to be L, a swing angle that is the inclination angle of the center axis of a roll 30 with respect to a main hub body 8 is taken to be , the pitch diameter of the hub-side face splines 21 is taken to be D.sub.h, the number of teeth of the hub-side face splines 21 is taken to be N.sub.h, and the number of teeth of a processing surface 31 of the roll 30 is taken to be N.sub.r, the position relationship of the main hub body 8 and the roll 30, or in other words, at least one of the swing center distance L, the swing angle , and the pitch circle diameter D.sub.h is regulated so that the relationship Nh/Nr=cos +(2L/D.sub.h).Math.sin is satisfied.
HUB ASSEMBLY FOR A HUB FOR A BICYCLE WHEEL, COMPENSATING ELEMENT FOR SAME, HUB, AND BICYCLE WHEEL
In an embodiment a hub assembly includes an axle and a hub body, wherein the axle extends through the hub body in a longitudinal direction, wherein the hub body is rotatably supported relative to the axle via at least one rolling bearing, an end body fixed to or on the axle on a side of the rolling bearing facing away from the hub body, wherein a bearing section of the end body facing the rolling bearing as seen in the longitudinal direction is arranged on the inner ring of the rolling bearing and a compensating element arranged between the bearing section of the end body and the inner ring of the rolling bearing and/or between the bearing section of the hub body and the outer ring of the rolling bearing, wherein the compensating element has a variable extension when viewed in the longitudinal direction.
WHEEL ASSEMBLY SEAL
A wheel assembly includes a spindle; a wheel hub rotatable relative to the spindle; and a seal mounted between the spindle and the wheel hub, the seal comprising a first portion and a second portion, the first portion coupled to the spindle, the second portion coupled to the wheel hub, the seal configured to prevent fluid flow through a cavity defined between the spindle and the wheel hub.
