WHEEL HUB AND WHEEL BEARING ASSEMBLY COMPRISING THE SAME
A wheel hub includes an inner hub part made of a first material and comprising a central portion formed to protrude in an axially inward direction and a flange portion formed to extend in a radially outward direction from the central portion; and an outer hub part made of a second material, which is lower in strength and lighter in weight than the first material, and configured to be integrally coupled with the inner hub part. The flange portion comprises a plurality of main extended portions in which a plurality of fastening holes are formed to penetrate in an axial direction while being arranged to be spaced apart from each other along a circumferential direction so that a wheel is mounted to the flange portion. The plurality of main extended portions are formed to extend along a plurality of virtual extension reference lines which extend in the radially outward direction.
Hub bearing unit with combination displacement limiter and seal
A hub bearing unit includes an inner ring having inboard and outboard axial ends and a bearing inner race on an outer surface. An outer ring disposed about the inner ring has inboard and outboard axial ends and a bearing outer race on an inner surface. One ring is coupled with a wheel and rotatable about an axis and the other ring is fixedly coupled with a frame. An annular displacement limiter extends radially from one ring and has a circumferential stop surface spaced radially from a surface of the other ring. The stop surface engages with the ring surface when the ring displaces radially relative to the other ring. A seal includes an annular sealing member coupled with one ring and is sealingly engageable with the limiter or is mounted on the limiter and sealingly engageable with one ring or a rigid seal member coupled with one ring.

An outer ring disposed about the inner ring has inboard and outboard axial ends and a bearing outer race on an inner surface. One ring is coupled with a wheel and rotatable about an axis and the other ring is fixedly coupled with a frame. A plurality of rolling elements is rollable upon the inner and outer races. A displacement limiter extends radially from one ring and has a frustoconical stop surface spaced radially from a surface of the other ring. The limiter stop surface engages with the ring surface when the ring displaces radially and/or axially relative to the other ring to prevent brinelling impacts on the bearing races. Preferably, the displacement limiter is located axially between the rolling elements and the ring inboard ends.
Wheel bearing unit for a motor vehicle as well as method for producing a wheel bearing unit
A wheel bearing unit for a motor vehicle, having a wheel hub, a wheel bearing flange, and a wheel bearing for pivot mounting of the wheel hub on the wheel bearing flange. The wheel hub has a passage opening for mounting a shaft journal attached to the wheel hub by a screw connection element, and an inner toothing is formed, on an inner circumferential surface delimiting the passage opening, for rotationally fixed interaction with an outer toothing of the shaft journal, and the passage opening extends through a contact shoulder, which is formed so as to have contact with a contact surface of the screw connection element, with the formation of an orifice.
SENSING APPARATUS FOR VEHICLE, WHEEL BEARING ASSEMBLY, AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SENSING APPARATUS FOR VEHICLE
A sensing device for vehicle includes a first sensing part configured to sense first information related to a wheel to generate a first signal; a second sensing part configured to sense second information related to the wheel to generating a second signal; a first insert to which the first sensing part is fixed; a second insert to which the second sensing part is fixed, the second insert being coupled to the first insert; at least one first connection part connected to the first sensing part and configured to supply a first power to the first sensing part or to transmit the first signal; at least one second connection part connected to the second sensing part and configured to supply a second power to the second sensing part or to transmit the second signal; and a body configured to accommodate the first and second sensing parts therein.
AXLE ASSEMBLY
An improved axle may comprise three design features that, used individually or in combination, may drastically improve axle performance and decrease the likelihood of axle damage and/or deformation resulting from vehicle weight, jounce load, combined cornering load, and/or curb strike load. These three features are: dual opposed tapered roller bearings, increased shaft diameter at the bearings, and reinforced flange back face.
