Tow dolly cross rail assembly
12269388 · 2025-04-08 ·

A tow dolly cross rail assembly includes a male bar and a pair of female bars arranged in a slidable relationship, which creates a positive camber effect at a pair of dolly tires at the outer ends of the bars. The male bar comprises an apex that forms an angle that orients upwardly, forming an angle between about 165 to 180. The center male bar and pair of female bars are arranged in a slidable relationship with each other. The midpoint of the center male bar forms an apex. The inner end of the female bars is in slidable relationship with free ends of center male bar. The female bars telescopically slide along the free ends of the center male bar for increasing and decreasing length of cross rail. The arched configuration of center male bar slopes the female bars to create positive camber at the dolly tires.

Handling device and methods

An article handling apparatus including a frame adapted to receive the article on a support structure, a number of wheels attached to the frame for movement of the frame over a substrate surface, and retaining arms operatively coupled to the frame and adapted to releasably secure the article to the frame. The secured article is movable in a controlled manner with respect to the frame by movement of the support structure and the retaining arms.

In at least one illustrative embodiment, a lift may comprise a support frame, a pair of lift arms pivotally coupled to the support frame and configured to support a motor vehicle tire, and a powertrain including a motor and a pair of pull rods, each of the pull rods being coupled between the motor and one of the pair of lift arms. The powertrain is operable to move the pair of lift arms between a first position, in which the second end of each of the lift arms is positioned a first distance above the support frame, and a second position, in which the second end of each of the lift arms is positioned a second distance above the support frame, the second distance being greater than the first distance.

A dolly for placement beneath a landing gear of an aircraft that enables transport of the aircraft without rolling the tire of the aircraft. The dolly includes a platform for a tire to rest on and a channel for positioning the tire. The dolly includes a winch for translating the dolly and aircraft tire relative to each other such that the landing gear is brought to rest on the platform, and one or more stops for securing the aircraft landing gear with respect to the dolly. Once positioned, the dolly can be used while transporting the aircraft, either by hand pushing, a hand towbar, a motorized tug with a towbar, or other mode. The dolly is useful for moving aircraft with a damaged landing gear or flat tires.
