Portal Axle

The invention is directed to a portal axle for low-slung vehicles, comprising a portal housing 1, 1 into the interior 2 of which is guided proceeding from an axle bracket side a drive shaft 17 on which a drive wheel 3 is arranged so as to be fixed with respect to rotation relative to it, with intermediate wheels 4 which are rotatably mounted on bearing pins 12 in the portal housing 1, 1 and which can be rotatably driven by the drive wheel 3 and by means of which an output wheel 5 which is arranged in the portal housing 1, 1 on an output shaft so as to be fixed with respect to rotation relative to it can be rotatably driven, this output wheel 5 projecting into a hub carrier 6 which can be fixedly connected to the portal housing 1, 1. The drive shaft 17 and the output shaft extend so as to be axially offset, and a brake caliper of a disk brake is arranged radially adjacent to the portal housing 1, 1. The portal housing 1, 1 has on its axle bracket side a mounting orifice 9 which can be closed by a closure part and through which the drive wheel 3 and the intermediate wheels 4 can be inserted into the portal housing 1, 1, wherein the intermediate wheels 4 have a larger diameter than the output wheel 5.

Portal Axle for a Rail Vehicle and Method for Manufacturing a Portal Axle of This Type
20250065671 · 2025-02-27 ·

A portal axle as well as a method for manufacturing a portal axle for a rail vehicle, which has an axle centre part extending along a longitudinal axis and two kingpins one of which sits on a first end section of the axle centre part and a second on a second end section of the axle centre part formed opposite to the first end section. The kingpins are oriented away from the axle centre part and form an axis of rotation in use for a rail wheel rotatably mounted on the respective kingpin. The portal axle has optimised usage properties with minimised weight. This is achieved by a longitudinal opening extending in the longitudinal direction of the portal axle being formed in at least one of the mould components. The invention further provides a method for manufacturing an axle of this type.

A wheel-axle generator equipped with a rotor configured to rotate with rotation of a wheel and a stator arranged around the rotor. The rotor is fixed to a concave portion that opens toward a vehicle outside of a tire wheel of a wheel. An arm member that has one end attached to a wheel-axle housing or a steering knuckle), that extends so as to stride over a wheel, and that, on a side of an outer surface of the wheel, further extends parallel to the outer surface of the wheel up to a central portion of the wheel. The stator is annularly arranged so as to surround the rotor and is provided on the other end side of the arm member. This arrangement provides space for accommodating a generator without shortening a wheel axle etc. and attaching the generator easily.
