TORSION AXLE ASSEMBLY
Disclosed are modular mechanical assemblies formed from durable, corrosion resistant components with sufficient strength to maintain efficient operation. The modular mechanical assemblies include a novel torsion axle assembly having a cartridge that houses a torsion bar with a splined tip. A load bearing, relatively incompressible bushing is optionally disposed about the torsion bar. The cartridge is inserted into an axle tube, and an end cap is placed over the cartridge and torsion bar. The end cap is affixed to the axle tube such that the bushing is secured within a bore in the end cap. The torsion bar tip extends through the bushing and end cap and is secured within a torsion arm. A spindle is also secured within the torsion arm. One or more components of the torsion axle assembly are made from a low alloy, medium carbon steel material that provides corrosion resistance and advantageous yield and ultimate strength properties. One or more components of the assembly can also be coated to improve corrosion resistance. Suitable coating techniques include, but are not limited to liquid ferritic nitrocarburizing, gas nitriding, electroless nickel plating, or a diamond like carbon coating process.
SPINDLE SYSTEM FOR WHEEL ALIGNMENT CORRECTION WITH BRAKE ADJUSTMENT
A spindle sleeve and washer for adjusting the camber, toe, or thrust angle of a vehicle wheel to a desired predetermined angle which allows for use of existing hub and spindle assembly without permanent modification to the vehicle.
Wheel end assembly and spindle configured therefor
A spindle for a wheel end assembly includes a first end of the spindle receiving the wheel of a vehicle on a first side of the wheel end assembly, and a second end of the spindle defining a flange and receiving the axle of a vehicle is disclosed. The flange includes a socket joint that receives the axle on the second side of the wheel end assembly. Mounting members extend distally from the second side a first distance to secure the spindle to the wheel end assembly via the flange. The socket joint of the spindle extends from the second side of the wheel end assembly a second distance from the second side. The second distance is greater than the first distance. A third distance represents degree of overlap of the axle by a ratio with respect to the outer diameter of the axle ranging from 8% to 20%.

Axle sleeve
A method of making an axle sleeve includes forming a main body comprising a cylinder and forming an expansion member whereby a diameter of the main body may be varied. The method includes cutting an inner helical cutout comprising a first slit defined through the main body and extending helically from an inner edge of the main body, cutting an outer helical cutout comprising a second slit defined through the main body and extending helically from an outer edge of the main body, forming an inner edge remaining portion comprising an annular section of the main body unbroken by the inner helical cutout, and forming an outer edge remaining portion comprising an annular section of the main body unbroken by the outer helical cutout.
WHEEL AXLE ASSEMBLY
A releasable wheel assembly includes a bracket having multiple bosses, each boss including a hole that receives an axle. A pair of wheels are mounted on the axle and a pair of locking caps fit over respective ends of the axle, the locking caps each including a clip for engaging the axle at a circumferential groove to prevent movement of the locking cap along the axle. The wheel assembly can be mounted to a carry bag or other storage unit by mounting the bracket to the storage unit, where the wheels and axle can be easily removed from the bracket.
Axle Unit
The invention relates to an axle unit comprising an axle tube and a link element, wherein the axle tube substantially extends along a tube axis, wherein the link element has a joining portion with a first welding portion and a second welding portion, wherein the link element is arranged with its joining portion adjacent to the axle tube and substantially transversely with respect to the tube axis, wherein, in the first welding portion and in the second welding portion, a welded joint can be produced between the link element and the axle tube.
