Axle assembly with outboard axle bearings
An axle assembly having an axle housing, an axle shaft, a plurality of axle shaft bearings and a seal. The axle housing has a tubular member and an end flange that is coupled to the tubular member. The axle shaft bearings and the seal are received in the end flange and are engaged to the axle shaft. The axle shaft bearings support the axle shaft for rotation relative to the axle housing. The seal is sealingly engaged to the end flange and the axle shaft. A method for assembling an axle assembly is also provided.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING HUB UNIT
A method for manufacturing a hub unit includes: preparing a hub unit intermediate including an inner shaft, an inner ring fixed to an axial end of the inner shaft, and an outer ring rotatably arranged with respect to the inner shaft and the inner ring; preparing a magnetic seal member including a seal member and an annular magnetic member having no magnetic pole; and arranging the magnetic seal member between the inner ring and the outer ring of the hub unit intermediate. The method further includes: forming splines extending along the axial direction by cutting the inner circumferential surface of the inner shaft of the hub unit intermediate in which the magnetic seal member has been arranged; and forming magnetic poles in a circumferential direction of the magnetic member of the hub unit intermediate in which the plurality of splines have been formed.
SPOKED HUMAN-POWERABLE VEHICLE WHEEL WITH USER-REMOVABLE HUB AND PLURALITY OF CONICAL HUB-TO-ANNULUS ATTACHMENT ELEMENTS
A wheel for a bicycle, or other human powerable vehicle, has a hub that includes: (a) an axle for attachment to a bicycle frame; (b) a set of bearings that connect the axle to a rotating sleeve; and (c) at least three connection points fixedly connected to the rotating sleeve. The connection points are used to detachably attach an annular module to the hub using attachment elements that each comprise conical frustum surfaces. The attachment elements are configured to axially press a portion of the hub to a portion of the annular module, as well as radially aligning the hub to the annular module. The annular module also has a set of spoke attachment points configured for tensioned spokes that connect the annular module to a wheel rim. The spoke attachment points are in a circular configuration on two parallel offset planes that are perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the rim.
SPOKE ATTACHMENT FLANGE FOR A HUB FOR A BICYCLE WHEEL, METHOD FOR MOUNTING A SPOKE ON THE FLANGE AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE HUB
A spoke attachment flange for a bicycle wheel hub is disclosed. The flange has a plurality of seats for housing enlarged spoke heads. Each spoke seat has an access hole that allows the insertion of the enlarged spoke head and an outlet opening that holds the enlarged spoke head when the spoke is tensioned. The access hole and the outlet opening are spaced circumferentially and connected through a connection channel so that an abutment surface abuts the enlarged head and prevents the enlarged head from exiting through the outlet opening. Methods for manufacturing the hub and mounting a spoke on the flange are also disclosed.
SPOKE ATTACHMENT FLANGE FOR A HUB FOR A BICYCLE WHEEL AND METHOD FOR MOUNTING A SPOKE ON THE FLANGE
A spoke attachment flange for a bicycle wheel hub and a method for mounting spokes on the flange are disclosed. The flange has an annular body with a plurality of seats for housing enlarged spoke heads. At least one seat has an access opening configured to allow the insertion of the enlarged head in the seat. An outlet opening on the annular body is configured to allow a stem of the spoke to exit from the seat. The access opening and the outlet opening are connected through a connection channel that extends from the access opening towards the outlet opening without reaching a radially outer surface.
Systems and methods for preloading a bearing and aligning a lock nut
A system for use in providing a load on a bearing mounted to a shaft includes a preload apparatus having a first extension and a second extension engageable with an inner race of the bearing and configured to provide a compressive load to the bearing. The first extension has a first projection and the second extension has a second projection. A stop ring is configured to limit a radially inward movement of the first extension and the second extension toward each other to position the first projection and the second projection relative to the bearing.
Lock ring spreader
A lock ring spreader is capable of being mounted to a lock ring having a first end and a second end. The lock ring spreader comprises a first mount that is mountable to the lock ring near the first end of the lock ring and a second mount that is mountable to the lock ring near the second end of the lock ring. A crank arm is pivotally coupled to the first mount and extends radially outward from the first mount relative to the lock ring. A link arm is pivotally coupled to the second mount and the crank arm, and extends radially outward from the second mount relative to the lock ring. Pivoting the crank arm radially inward relative to the lock ring pivots the link arm relative to the crank arm and expands the distance between the first mount and the second mount.
Wheel for a support structure
A wheel assembly includes a first side plate having a first annular base, axially protruding first claw members projecting axially outward from the first annular base, axially protruding first hub mounts projecting axially outward from the first annular base, and axially protruding first spring mounts projecting axially outward from the first annular base; a hub member attached to the first side plate; and a tire assembly laid over the hub member such that spokes of the tire assembly are radially adjacent corresponding first claw members of the first side plate, a plurality of friction members and the first claw members sandwiching each of the spokes.
FASTENER FOR FASTENING A WHEEL RIM TO A WHEEL HUB
A fastener is adapted to fasten a wheel rim to a wheel hub. The wheel rim has multiple hole-defining walls respectively defining multiple installation holes. The fastener includes a main body and a sleeve. The main body extends along a central axis thereof, is adapted to engage the wheel hub, and has an abutting portion corresponding in shape to a corresponding one of the installation holes and extending into the corresponding installation hole. The sleeve is sleeved and retained on the abutting portion, and has a contacting surface, which abuts against corresponding one of the installation holes.
FLANGED WHEEL HUB UNIT AND ASSEMBLY METHOD
A wheel hub unit having a rotatable hub provided with an axially outer flange and a bearing unit. The bearing unit providing a radially outer ring, a radially inner ring and a plurality of rolling bodies positioned respectively between the radially outer ring and the hub and between the radially outer ring and the radially inner ring. The radially inner ring has a finished axial length which ensures a predetermined value of an axial preload of the bearing unit and a finished axial length is defined by the following formula: X=(X+X)X1
