Wheel assembly including relative movement sensor and related methods
A wheel assembly may include an inner rim to be coupled to the hub of the vehicle, and an outer rim surrounding the inner rim. Gas springs may be operatively coupled between the inner rim and the outer rim and permitting relative movement therebetween. The wheel assembly may also include a sensor configured to sense the relative movement between the inner and outer rims.
Automated removal and replacement of vehicle wheels and tires
Systems, methods and apparatus for automated vehicle wheel removal and replacement are provided. One system includes a computer system with applications for scheduling the replacement of tires for the vehicle. An electronically controlled lift device and robotic apparatus is configured for interaction with the computer system. The lift device mechanically adjusts arms for placement on lift points of vehicles. The robotic apparatus detects positioning of lug nut configuration for a wheel, removes lug nuts, and then removes the wheel from the wheel hub with gripping arms. The wheel and tire are then handed off to a separate tire changing machine. When a new tire is replaced the robotic apparatus then mounts the wheel to the original wheel hub, and then secures the lug nuts to the lug nut bolts.
Axle assembly and method of manufacture i'hereof
Described herein is an axle assembly and method of fabrication thereof. The axle assembly includes an axle having a first geometric shape housed within an axle housing having a second geometric shape. A shock absorber is located between the axle and the axle housing. The shock absorber supports the axle within the axle housing and comprises a first material and comprises a multi-sided configuration. The first geometric shape and the second geometric shape comprising polygons.
Wheels for non-motorized vehicles
A wheel for a non-motorized vehicle (e.g., a shopping cart) can include a housing assembly and a tread assembly. The housing assembly can be configured to sealingly house electronics or other components. The tread assembly can removably mate with the housing assembly such that the electronics or other components remain closed and/or sealed within the housing assembly when the tread assembly is mated or unmated with the housing assembly.
Saddle lock ring for rear dual wheels of heavy transport vehicle
The present invention relates to a novel design for quick tyre change in rear dual wheel assembly in a heavy transport vehicle. The invention provides a safe design that comprises a two-piece segmented saddle lock ring retained in position by an endless ring. A self-locking taper provided on the inside of endless ring can be pressed against the taper provided on the two-piece segmented saddle lock ring. The endless ring retaining the two-piece segmented saddle lock rings due to wedge action of self-locking taper cannot move from its position until an external force is applied on the endless ring towards the direction of the tyre position. The endless ring acts as a hood over the two-piece segmented saddle lock rings and prevents any loose parts flying off the rim during the tyre burst. Further in this safe design both inboard and outboard rim tyre support components are identical as both rims are of same diameter.
Wheel assembly including flexible inboard seal and related methods
A wheel assembly may include an inner rim to be coupled to the hub of the vehicle, and an outer rim surrounding the inner rim. The wheel assembly may also include gas springs operatively coupled between the inner rim and the outer rim and permitting relative movement therebetween. The wheel assembly may also include a rigid inboard cover ring coupled to an inboard side of the outer rim and extending radially inward toward the inner rim. A flexible inboard seal may be coupled between the rigid inboard cover ring and the inner rim.
Lock for wheel rim and assemblies, systems, and methods thereof
A wheel rim assembly and components, systems, and methods thereof can have a rim base with at least one slot at an outer end portion thereof, a bead seat band radially outward of the outer end portion of the rim base, and at least one lock provided in the at least one slot. The bead seat band may be in direct contact with the outer end portion of the rim base. The lock can have a first portion that is provided in the slot of the rim base and a second portion that is outside of the slot. The second portion may be adjacent to the bead seat band. The wheel rim assembly may be free of or without a lock ring at the outer end portion of the rim base.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING BEARING DEVICE FOR VEHICLE WHEEL, AND BEARING DEVICE FOR VEHICLE WHEEL
A manufacturing method of a bearing device for a vehicle wheel (1) includes: a pressure adjusting step of enclosing, in a work chamber (Rw), the bearing device for a vehicle wheel (1) to which a sealing member (9) on an outer side is fitted in the work chamber (Rw), and adjusting a pressure in the work chamber (Rw) to a predetermined atmospheric pressure (Pt) according to an environment of a use area of the bearing device for a vehicle wheel (1); and a sealing step of fitting a cover (12) that seals an inner side opening (2a) of an outer ring (2) or an inner side sealing member (6) that seals between the outer ring (2) and a hub ring (3) or an inner ring (4) to the inner side opening (2a) in the work chamber (Rw) in which a pressure has been adjusted.
WHEEL COVER QUICK MOUNT
Implementations disclosed and claimed herein provide a wheel cover system. In one implementation, an inward force exerted against a wheel cover of the wheel cover assembly in an inward direction towards the hub is received. The inward force overcomes a spring bias of a spring of the receiver and translates the wheel cover assembly in the inward direction. A first rotational force rotating the wheel cover assembly in a first direction is received. The first post guides and engages the first hook, and the second post guides and engages the second hook during rotation. A first positive feedback is generated in response to the inward force and the first rotational force. The wheel cover assembly is releaseably locked to the receiver by translating the wheel cover assembly in the outward direction using an outward force generated by the spring bias. The outward force provides a second positive feedback.
WHEEL ASSEMBLY INCLUDING HINGED OUTER RIM SEGMENTS AND RELATED METHODS
A wheel assembly may include an inner rim, and an outer rim surrounding the inner rim. The outer rim may include outer rim segments each hingeably coupled in end-to-end relation to an adjacent outer rim segment to define the outer rim. The wheel assembly may also include gas springs operatively coupled between the inner and outer rims, and tread members each carried by a respective one of outer rim segments.
