According to various embodiments, a robotic cleaner may include a battery; a driving device for moving the robotic cleaner; a cleaning device for allowing the robotic cleaner to perform cleaning work; and a processor configured to determine, as a zone that can be cleaned, a first zone in the entire space by considering the residual capacity of the battery and the location of a charging device, operate the driving device and cleaning device to perform cleaning of the first zone, and perform control such that the robotic cleaner moves to the location of the charging device. Other embodiments are possible.

A method of removing mites includes: acquiring a target path for mite removal and switching from a hibernation state to a crawling state upon receiving a mite removing instruction; in the crawling state, crawling according to the target path and performing mite removal during the crawling process; and after crawling to an end position of the target path, switching from the crawling state to the hibernation state.

A robotic cleaning appliance includes a sonic transducer and a processor coupled with a housing. The sonic transducer transmits sonic signals toward a surface within its ringdown distance and receives corresponding returned signals. Following cessation of the sonic signals, the processor samples the ringdown signal generated by the sonic transducer during an early portion before the corresponding returned signals have reflected back to the sonic transducer, and during a later portion which includes the corresponding returned signals. The processor utilizes the sampled early portion to estimate a void ringdown signal of which represents performance of the sonic transducer in absence of returned signals being received. The processor compares the estimated void ringdown signal to the later portion of the ringdown signal and generates a metric based on the comparison. The processor utilizes the metric to determine a type of the surface, out of a plurality of surface types.

Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for automatically cleaning a portion of an environment. One of the methods includes detecting movement of a person within a physical environment; determining that one or more threshold criteria for cleaning at least a portion of the physical environment are satisfied; detecting one or more areas of the physical environment with cleanliness levels that satisfy a threshold cleanliness level; determining that the portion of the physical environment for which the threshold criteria are satisfied likely was insufficiently cleaned; and in response to determining that the portion of the physical environment for which the threshold criteria are satisfied likely was insufficiently cleaned, sending an instruction to a device in the physical environment to cause the device to present a notification that identifies the portion of the physical environment that likely was insufficiently cleaned.

The present disclosure relates to a method of controlling a robot cleaner including a pair of rotary plates having lower sides to which mops facing a floor surface are coupled, the robot cleaner being configured to move by rotating the pair of rotary plates, the method including: a first forward movement step of moving the robot cleaner forward from a starting point toward a predetermined target point; a first rotation step of rotating the robot cleaner; a second forward movement step of moving the robot cleaner forward after the first rotation step; and a second rotation step of rotating the robot cleaner after the second forward movement step, such that the floor surface may be repeatedly cleaned only by the forward movement and the rotation.

A sterilizer for an autonomous robotic cleaner is revealed. An ultraviolet (UV) sterilizer is disposed on a top surface of an autonomous robotic cleaner. When the autonomous robotic cleaner is moved for cleaning the floor, consumers can activate the UV sterilizer by remote control to perform sterilization of indoor environments according to their needs. Thus a clean and hygienic environment is achieved. A person or pet in area to be cleaned is detected in a real time manner by a thermal sensor module so that the UV sterilizer is turned off immediately to protect the person or pet from injuries caused by exposure to UV light.

A robotic vacuum cleaner is provided having a suction source, a dirt collector, a floor sensor, a primary brush, and an auxiliary brush. The floor sensor includes an emitter and a detector having an intersecting region. The auxiliary brush includes microfiber fingers that are spaced around a perimeter of the brush, or the auxiliary brush includes a pad having apertures, the apertures allow the emitter and detector to sense whether a floor surface is present.
