The invention relates to a silane, to a rubber mixture containing the silane and to a vehicle tire comprising the rubber mixture in at least one component. The silane according to the invention has the following formula I)

wherein according to the invention it has a spacer group between the silyl group and the S-G moiety, wherein the spacer group has an aromatic group A and at least one further aromatic group and/or an alkylene group and also the linking units X and Y, wherein the group X is selected from the groups HNC(?O), C(?O)NH, C(?O)O, OC(?O), OC(?O)NH, HNC(?O)O, R.sup.3NC(?O)NR.sup.3, R.sup.3NC(?NR.sup.3)NR.sup.3, R.sup.3NC(?S)NR.sup.3, wherein at least one R.sup.3 within the group X is a hydrogen atom, and wherein the groups Y are selected from the groups HNC(?O), C(?O)NH, C(?O)O, OC(?O), OC(?O)NH, HNC(?O)O, R.sup.4NC(?O)NR.sup.4, R.sup.4NC(?NR.sup.4)NR.sup.4, R.sup.4NC(?S)NR.sup.4, wherein at least one R.sup.4 within each group Y is a hydrogen atom, and wherein the radicals R.sup.7 are selected from aromatic groups A and alkylene radicals having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, which may have cyclic, branched and/or aliphatically unsaturated groups; and wherein G is a hydrogen atom or a C(?O)R.sup.8 group or a SiR.sup.8.sub.3 group, wherein R.sup.8 is selected from linear, branched and cyclic C.sub.1-C.sub.20-alkyl groups, C.sub.6-C.sub.20-aryl groups, C.sub.2-C.sub.20-alkenyl groups and C.sub.7-C.sub.20-aralkyl groups, and wherein m can take the values 0 to 4. The rubber mixture according to the invention contains at least one silane according to the invention.

The present invention relates to a self-supporting tyre (100) for motor vehicles which comprises sidewall reinforcing inserts (113A, 113B) with different stiffness. In particular, the sidewall reinforcing insert on the side of the tyre most stressed during driving is less rigid than the sidewall reinforcing insert on the less stressed side. The tyre of the invention exhibits a reduced rolling resistance and better comfort in normal driving and an unexpected increase in mileage in run-flat driving.

The run flat tire according to this disclosure comprises a tread portion, sidewall portions, bead portions, a side-reinforcing rubber, and a carcass. An inner liner is provided on the tire inner surface, and an inner layer rubber is disposed between the side-reinforcing rubber and the inner liner. In accordance with JIS K6270, when the dumbbell-shaped No. 8 specimens having 1 mm notch in a direction perpendicular to the direction of repeated tension at the center thereof are subjected to repeated tension at a frequency of 10 Hz under the conditions of 150 C., the number of repetitions until the specimen of the inner layer rubber fails is, in the range of 10% to 30% of the tensile strain applied, at least twice that of the side-reinforcing rubber, and in the reference condition, the ratio t2/t1 is 0.05 to 0.30.

(B) {E(A)E(B)} of 2.0 MPa or more, the dynamic tensile storage moduli being measured under conditions of an initial tensile strain of 5%, a dynamic tensile strain of 1%, and a frequency of 52 Hz, and provides the tire excellent in achieving both the riding comfort in normal running and the durability in Run-flat running.

Vulcanisable elastomeric materials for components of tyres comprising modified silicate fibres, and tyres thereof

A vulcanizable elastomeric composition for tire component is described. The vulcanizable elastomeric composition includes modified silicate fibers as fillers. Moreover, the tire component contains elastomeric materials which are obtainable by vulcanization of the vulcanizable elastomeric composition. A tire for vehicles which includes one or more of the tire components is also described. The vulcanized elastomeric materials are characterized by having good static and dynamic mechanical properties, and particularly low hysteresis. Advantageously, the tire which contains one or more of the tire components has a reduced rolling resistance.
