A soundproof tyre and a process for the production thereof. The tyre includes particular polyolefin sound absorbent foams that provide damping for noise generated in a cavity of the tyre, together with resistance to hydrolysis, poor water absorption and an unexpected thermal and mechanical stability in use conditions. The sound absorbent material is applied on at least a portion of a radially inner surface of the tyre. The portion of the radially inner surface includes an impermeable elastomeric material layer. The sound absorbent material includes a foamed polyolefin material with closed macrocells having an average size of at least 1.5 m according to ASTM D357 6.

An embodiment of the present invention provides an air injection valve-integrated spray for spraying and applying polyurethane foam to a desired portion of a tire. The spray includes a polyurethane foam chamber disposed at an end of a coupling portion and keeping polyurethane foam under pressure and an air delivery chamber delivering air injected from an air injection valve to a breaking portion of the polyurethane foam chamber, in which the breaking portion of the polyurethane foam chamber is broken by air coming out of the air delivery chamber, so the polyurethane foam is sprayed.

Pneumatic Tire
20200346493 · 2020-11-05 ·

A pneumatic tire comprises a tread portion extending in a tire circumferential direction and having an annular shape; a pair of sidewall portions disposed on opposite sides of the tread portion; and a pair of bead portions disposed inward of the sidewall portions in a tire radial direction; wherein a sound absorbing member is fixed via an adhesive layer to an inner surface of the tread portion along the tire circumferential direction, and the adhesive layer comprises a solid pressure-sensitive adhesive without including a base material.

Run-flat tire insert
10821786 · 2020-11-03 ·

A run-flat tire insert for installation in a pneumatic tire mounted on a rim. The insert is a one-piece toroidal member formed from expanded polymer foam beads molded into a structural foam part. The insert has an inner diameter surface sized to fit snuggly about a periphery of a tire rim and an outer diameter sized to fit within a tire cavity. The insert is spaced from the tire inner casing surface during normal operation and supports the tire inner casing surface away from the rim in the event of a flat tire. A molding apparatus and a method of forming a run-flat tire insert is also disclosed.

PNEUMATIC TIRE

To be capable of preventing deterioration of uniformity after puncture repair while suppressing running noise.

[Solution] A pneumatic tire 1 comprises a noise damper 20 fixed to a tire inner cavity surface of a tread portion 2 and formed of a porous material. The noise damper 20 includes a first part 23 arranged on an outer side in a tire radial direction and fixed to the tire inner cavity surface 16, and a second part 24 arranged on an inner side in the tire radial direction of the first part 23 and exposed in a tire inner cavity 17. A water absorption rate of the first part 23 calculated by a following formula (1) is in a range of from 5% to 25%. Air permeability of the second part 24 measured in accordance with Japanese Industrial standard JIS-L1096 is in a range of from 1 to 7 cm3/cm2/s. The formula (1) is: water absorption rate (%)=weight change before and after immersion (g)/volume at 50% compression (cm3)100 (1).

Tire, the inner wall of which has a layer of specific polyurethane foam

The inner wall of a pneumatic tyre, in the vulcanized state, is provided with a layer of polyurethane foam, characterized in that the polyurethane is based on a diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI), in particular 4,4-diphenylmethane diisocyanate, and on a polyol having an ethylene oxide content of greater than 50% (% by weight). This specific polyurethane formulation makes it possible to obtain a light foam that efficiently absorbs noise; it has the advantages of being simple and inexpensive and of being easy to process by direct casting of the reactants in the pneumatic tyre of the invention.
