The elastomer reinforcement cord 10 has a multi-strand structure which includes: at least one core strand 21 formed by twisting plural metal filaments 1a and 1b together; and two or more sheath strands 22 each formed by twisting plural metal filaments 11a and 11b together, the sheath strands being twisted together around the core strand. An intra-sheath-strand filling rate a, which is a ratio of the area of the polymer material with respect to an intra-sheath-strand gap region A, is 52% or higher, and an inter-strand filling rate b, which is a ratio of the area of the polymer material with respect to an inter-strand gap region B, is 75% or higher.

The metal reinforcers of the working layers (41, 42) are steel monofilaments having a cross section S with a smallest dimension Dmin between 0.20 mm and 0.50 mm. The monofilaments distributed at a density d.sub.T between 100 threads/dm 200 threads/dm, each working layer (41, 42) having a mean radial thickness E.sub.T between D+0.1 mm and D+0.6 mm.

A composite cord is composed of two first strands formed of aramid fibers and one second strand formed of nylon fibers. In a cross section perpendicular to a length direction, a ratio L2/L0 of a length L2 of an exposed surface of the second strand along the outer cord periphery to a length L0 of an exposed surface of the composite cord along the outer cord periphery is in a range of 0.30 or more and 0.40 or less.

According to the present disclosure, there is disclosed a hybrid tire cord capable of realizing high performance and weight reduction of a tire by having strong adhesion to rubber and excellent fatigue resistance as well as high tenacity and high modulus by providing a cabled yarn in which an aramid hybrid Z-twisted yarn composed of an aramid multifilament yarn and an aramid spun yarn; and a general-purpose Z-twisted yarn are S-twisted together. There is also provided a method for manufacturing the same.

An organic fiber cord of a belt-reinforcing layer, which is placed on the radially outer side of the belt layer, is configured such that when the number of twists per 10 cm length is T (twists/10 cm), the fineness is D (dtex), and the fiber density is ρ (g/cm.sup.3), the twist coefficient K defined as T×(D/ρ).sup.1/2 is 900 to 2,600, and the product of the load at 5% elongation LASE 5% (N) of the organic fiber cord and the end count E (cords/25 mm) of the organic fiber cord is 1,000 N or more.

A tyre for vehicle wheels comprises a support structure and a tread band arranged in a radially outer position with respect to the support structure. The support structure comprises a plurality of hybrid reinforcing cords (10) each having a plurality of monofilament textile wires (20) twisted to at least one multifilament textile yarn (30). In any cross section of the hybrid reinforcing cord (10), at least one portion of at least one monofilament textile wire (20) of said plurality of monofilament textile wires (20) defines a first radially outer surface portion of the hybrid reinforcing cord (10) and at least one portion of said at least one multifilament textile yarn (30) defines a second radially outer surface portion of the hybrid reinforcing cord (10).

TYRE FOR VEHICLE WHEELS

A tyre for vehicle wheels comprises a carcass structure including at least one carcass ply having a plurality of hybrid reinforcing cords (10). Each hybrid reinforcing cord (10) comprises at least two strands (20a, 20b) twisted together with a predetermined twisting pitch (P). Each of said at least two strands (20a, 20b) comprises at least one monofilament textile wire made of polyester fibres and at least one multifilament textile yarn (22a, 22b) comprising a plurality of textile filaments (23a, 23b) made of aramid and/or polyester and/or rayon fibres. In any cross section of the hybrid reinforcing cord (10), said at least one monofilament textile wire is at least partially embedded in the filaments (23a, 23b) of said at least one multifilament textile yarn (22a, 22b).
