TREAD FOR A PNEUMATIC TIRE

A tread for a tire includes: a first tread zone extending circumferentially, continuously, and entirely around the tire, the first tread zone being formed of a first compound; a second tread zone extending circumferentially, continuously, and entirely around the tire, the second tread zone being formed of a second compound different from the first compound; and a boundary groove axially separating the first tread zone from the second tread zone, the first tread zone, the second tread zone, and the boundary groove entirely forming the tread, the boundary groove having an axial centerline disposed an axial distance from an equatorial plane of the tire. The first tread zone has a first circumferential groove and a sidewall portion defining an intermediate circumferential rib of the first tread zone and a shoulder circumferential rib of the first tread zone.

Tire with concave sidewalls

A tire having a central axis and a radius further includes a circumferential tread having a convex cross-section. The convex cross-section is defined by a radius that is less than a maximum radius of the tire. A pair of sidewalls extends from opposite sides of the circumferential tread. Each of the pair of sidewalls has a concave cross-section that is defined by a radius that is greater than a maximum radius of the convex cross-section of the circumferential tread.

A press wheel comprises a rigid body and a semi-tubular tire. The tire comprises a flexible envelope with a sole portion through which the tire is mounted on the rigid body, a tread portion and a pair of sidewalls each one connecting the sole to the tread. The sidewalls extend, at least partially, along a generally concave profile, viewed from the exterior of the tire.

A pneumatic tire includes bead cores, a carcass ply and a belt. The carcass ply includes: a first ply having a central portion positioned inward of the belt in the tire radial direction, a pair of side portions extending inward from opposite ends of the central portion in the tire radial direction, and folded-up portions extending from the respective side portions, being folded up around the respective bead cores; and a second ply being discontinuous and disposed outward of the first ply in the tire radial direction, having a pair of ply pieces provided with inner ends positioned on respective sides of the central portion of the first ply, side portions extending inward from the respective inner ends in the tire radial direction, and folded-up portions extending from the respective side portions, being folded up around the respective bead cores. The first ply has a ply-overlapping portion.

TIRE CONSTRUCTION WITH FLATTENED SUMMIT AND CIRCUMFERENTIAL REINFORCEMENT

A tire constructed with a plurality of reinforcement belts is provided. At least one of the reinforcement belts extends along the axial width of the tire summit and is constructed according to an equilibrium curve that is flat throughout the summit. The reinforcement belts include cable reinforcements that are substantially parallel to the equatorial plane. Substantial reductions in the tension experienced by the cables can be achieved to provide, as a result, improvements in e.g., tread wear.

A tire has a cap rubber formed of nonconductive rubber and forms a ground surface, and a conductive portion provided in at least one side end portion of a pair of side end portions in both ends in a tire width direction. The conductive portion is formed of a conductive rubber, and reaches a side surface of the cap rubber from the ground surface through an inner portion of the cap rubber. The conductive portion is relatively small in a thickness in the ground surface and a side surface of the cap rubber, is relatively large in the maximum thickness of an intermediate portion between the ground surface and the side surface of the cap rubber, and is formed into a crescent shape which is curved into an inner side in a tire width direction and an inner side in a radial direction, in a tire meridian cross section.

In a pneumatic tire 2, a contour of an outer surface of each side portion includes a first segment that is a straight line or a circular arc, and a second segment that is a straight line or a circular arc and that is connected to an end of the first segment. The contour of the outer surface of the side portion bends outward with a connection point of the first segment and the second segment as a bending point. The first segment and the second segment are preferably straight lines.
