10625408 · 2020-04-21 ·

A device for Semi-truck and trailer applications. It is a tool used by truck operator's release a fifth wheel pins of a tractor/trailer assembly or the wheel adjustments and tandem axle trailer pin extractor apparatus. Also it is used as a tool for allowing uncoupling/decoupling of a trailer from a tractor and for shifting the locking pins in the undercarriage of a tandem axle trailer when it is desired to shift the position of the tandem axles relative to the trailer body. The tool is made of a hammer assembly with a spike head, shaft and wedge; a pipe structure handle with a taper at one end for attaching to assembly and a way for attaching to a cap and a way to attach the hammer assembly to the pipe structure handle. It has an extendable hook assembly with a hook at one end of an adjustable tube.

The tool includes an elongate rigid bar with fixed chain leaders extending from the bar near ends of the bar. A removable chain leader is provided between these two fixed chain leaders. In one form of the invention, the bar is hollow and a pin translates within this hollow core. A slot in the bar allows a proximal link of the removable chain leader to pass into the hollow core of the bar where the pin can removably capture this proximal link. Because the removable chain leader is provided on the bar, it can initially be captured to the bar for use along with the fixed chain leaders to position a tire chain onto a dual wheel pair. Then, the removable leader can be removed from the bar and act as a handle on a middle elongate section of the tire chain to assist in connection thereof.

An apparatus for applying chains to a tire comprises an elongate member having c-shaped opening at a first end thereof and a handle at a second end thereof. The apparatus further includes a slot therethrough adapted to support a key rotatable between a first position contained within the slot and a second position extending perpendicularly from the slot. A method of applying tire chains comprises comprising engaging a link of a tire chain within the c-shaped opening and drawing the link of the tire chain into engagement with a binder located at a distal end of the tire chain. The method further comprises locating the binder within the c-shaped opening, rotating the binder into a closed position with the elongate member, rotating a key out of the slot, engaging the key within a lock in the tire chain and locking the tire chain with the key.

Ramp for elevating a tire for installing chains
12258249 · 2025-03-25 ·

An improved ramp for facilitating the application of snow chains to the outer tire of a dual tire configuration of a semi truck, or other dual wheeled vehicle. The ramp has a front apron that is close to and parallel to the ground. The front apron allows for the tire to drive on to the apron without pushing the ramp out from under the tire. The tire then travels up an incline section to a top, supporting surface. The bottom of the ramp has a series of adjustable friction enhancing projections that increase friction between the bottom of the ramp and the ground. The friction enhancing projections are adjustable in length, allowing for a user to make the projections longer beneath the supporting surface, further facilitating driving the tire onto the ramp.

Protective enclosure and method of using
12545326 · 2026-02-10 ·

A trailer for use with a truck having at least one drive wheel is disclosed. The trailer includes a floor configured to carry cargo and a protective enclosure moveable between a stowed position and a deployed position. The protective enclosure has a frame and a top panel, a first side panel, a second side panel, and an end panel that are attachable to the frame. In the stowed position, the protective enclosure is positioned adjacent the floor. In the deployed position, the protective enclosure projects away from the floor and the top panel, the first side panel, the second side panel, and the end panel cooperate to form an interior space shielded from inclement weather. A method of servicing at least one drive wheel of a truck coupled to a trailer is also disclosed.

Wheel-stabilizing chock systems

An apparatus and method for stabilizing a vehicle wheel during installation while the vehicle wheel is suspended above a ground surface and not under load. A support structure is configured with a plurality of teeth or engagement points in a staggered and distributed configuration to engage the tread portion of the suspended tire and resist wheel rotation during torquing of wheel fasteners.
