REDUCED WEIGHT AIRCRAFT TIRE
A pneumatic tire having a carcass and a belt reinforcing structure wherein the belt reinforcing structure is a composite belt structure having at least one radially inner spiral layer and at least one zigzag belt reinforcing structure located radially outward of said spiral layer. The zigzag belt width is preferably wider than the spiral layer. The pneumatic tire further includes an auxiliary belt layer wherein the auxiliary belt is a zigzag belt formed of a dual modulus strip formed of two different reinforcement cords, and wherein the auxiliary belt may be the widest belt layer.
TYRE MONITORING
An apparatus for monitoring the condition of a pneumatic tyre including a pressure sensor(s) to measure an internal pressure within the tyre. A speed sensor(s) measures a rotational speed of the tyre. A controller is configured to receive data from the pressure sensor and the speed sensor and output indications related to a condition of the tyre. The controller determines the output indications by tracking the internal pressure with respect to time during use of the tyre, identifying at least one change in internal tyre pressure in a time interval. The time interval is between a first reference time and a second reference time, the reference times corresponding to points at which the speed sensor indicates different rotational speeds of the tyre. The controller further monitors the pressure change as a function of rotational speed of the tyre to provide an indicator of tyre condition.
TIRE INFLATION OPTIMISATION
A tire inflation optimization apparatus configured to determine an optimum inflation pressure for a tire installed on an aircraft is disclosed. The apparatus includes a memory and a controller. The memory stores information relating tire gas properties to aircraft schedule parameters and a reference pressure for the tire. The controller is configured to receive future schedule information indicative of a future flight schedule for the aircraft and to determine an optimum inflation pressure for the tire based on the received future schedule information, the stored information relating tire gas properties to aircraft schedule parameters, and the stored reference pressure.
TYRE PRESSURE MONITORING DEVICES ENFORCING RANGE LIMITATION ON COMMUNICATION
A tyre monitoring device, tyre monitoring system and method including a wireless interface having range determining capability and a processor. The processor: receives a command via the wireless interface from a second device of the tyre monitoring system; determines a range to the second device; and executes the command if the range to the second device is less than a predetermined threshold.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR DETERMINING AIRCRAFT TIRE PRESSURE
An apparatus for determining tire pressure of an aircraft tire. The apparatus includes a processing system configured to: obtain a first set and a second set of tire measurement data for an aircraft, wherein the first set is from a start of a flight cycle and the second set is from a time before the first set; and determine a steady state tire pressure based on the first and second sets of measurement data.
DETERMINING A STATUS OF A TYRE MONITORING DEVICE
A method of determining a status of a tyre monitoring device that includes a power supply. The method includes determining a value indicative of consumption of the power supply, determining a status of the tyre monitoring device based on the value indicative of consumption of the power supply, and providing an indication based on the determined status.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR DETERMINING AIRCRAFT TIRE PRESSURE
An apparatus configured to determine the pressure of an aircraft tire at a reference temperature. The apparatus includes a processing system configured to: obtain a measured tire pressure and a measured temperature associated with the measured tire pressure; and determine a tire pressure at the reference temperature by adjusting the measured tire pressure using a predetermined temperature characteristic, a square root of the measured temperature and a square root of the reference temperature. The predetermined temperature characteristic is a gradient of the relationship between square root of temperature and tire pressure.
TIRE WITH IMPROVED BEAD STRUCTURE
A pneumatic radial tire having a bead portion provided therein with a bead core, wherein the bead core is wrapped with a flipper, wherein the flipper is formed of a reinforced material, wherein the flipper has an axially inner leg that extends radially outward to a radial distance Li from the reference line XX′, wherein the line XX′ extends through the geometric center of the bead core, wherein the radial distance Li is equal to or greater than the bead radius, as measured in a radial direction from line XX′.
TIRE WITH IMPROVED BEAD STRUCTURE
A pneumatic radial tire having a bead portion provided therein with a bead core, and a first layer of a plurality of sheath wires surrounding the bead core, and a second layer formed of a plurality of sheath wires surrounding the first layer, wherein the second layer of shear wires has a diameter less than the sheath wires of the first layer.
TIRE WITH PROTECTIVE BELT STRUCTURE
A tire having a jointless cut protector belt, wherein the jointless cut protector belt is continuously wound using a strip of one or more reinforcement cords, wherein the strip of one or more reinforcement cords is wavy, extending primarily in the circumferential direction, and preferably wound in a sine wave pattern.
