Deployable step systems for accessing vehicle cargo spaces on vehicles equipped with a tailgate assembly having a door subassembly may include a bumper integrated step pad that is movable between a stowed position and a deployed position. In the stowed position, the step pad establishes a portion of the bumper, and in the deployed position, the step pad is rearward and vertically lowered relative to the bumper.

Yaw angle measurement device
11285995 · 2022-03-29 · ·

A yaw angle measuring device for a separable coupling for fifth wheel couplings includes a sensor element and a measuring arrangement, wherein the sensor element is configured to be arranged on a first coupling partner and the measuring arrangement is configured to be arranged on a second coupling partner, wherein the first coupling partner is configured to be mounted by the coupling arrangement such that the first coupling partner is rotatable about an axis of rotation relative to the second coupling partner, wherein the sensor element generates a measuring signal in the measuring arrangement which serves to determine the yaw angle about the axis of rotation.

DEVICE INTRODUCED AT THE BASE FOR FIXING THE KINGPIN IN A SEMI-TRAILER
20220105759 · 2022-04-07 ·

Base for fixing the kingpin on a semi-trailer, belonging to the group of vehicle towing devices, including devices for fifth-wheel couplings, to hook the semi-trailer to the tractor vehicle. Base consists of a monobloc structure featuring quadrangular geometry with a circular orifice at its center of gravity, its upper face featuring a tubular cylindrical projection coaxially perpendicular to the circular orifice. Side faces are fully opened. Frontal and back faces feature a U-shaped opening in their upper halves. Base for fixing the kingpin is fixed to the upper face of the horizontal platform of the semi-trailer chassis. It receives a circular hole, coaxial to a second circular hole present at such base. Kingpin is inserted at the base through its upper portion, so that it crosses both it and the horizontal platform, protruding perpendicularly from its lower face downwards, to be coupled to the fifth wheel of the tractor vehicle.

Deck plate assembly for a truck chassis
11292533 · 2022-04-05 ·

A deck plate assembly for a truck chassis having first and second elongated frame members. Elongated rail brackets are mounted on the upper ends of the first and second frame members. Each of the rail brackets has an elongated slide slot formed in the inner sides thereof. A storage box and an airline box are positioned between the first and second frame members. A storage box support frame is slidably mounted in the slide slots of the rail brackets so as to be positioned over the storage box. The storage box is bolted to the storage box support frame. An airline box support is slidably mounted in the slide slots of the rail brackets so as to be positioned over the airline box. The airline box is bolted to the airline box support. Metal deck sections may also be slidably mounted in the rail brackets.

Fifth wheel conversion hitch mounting system

An underbed hitch mounting system is described. The mounting system may be utilized for towing vehicles wherein the mounting system may selectively accommodate either a fifth wheel hitch or a gooseneck hitch. The mounting system may include at least one rail capable of being connected to a vehicle frame, wherein the rail includes at least one socket. The socket may be engaged with a receiving member, wherein the receiving member may be engaged with a leg of a fifth wheel hitch. A mid rail may be connected to the rails and may include a hitch ball socket that is capable of engagement with a hitch.

AUTONOMOUS DOCK

An autonomous dock system for a vehicle, comprises a control system with instructions comprising steps for receiving a request to implement an autonomous dock routine. A vehicle speed and clutch position are calculated. A clutch position controller is commanded to maintain the calculated clutch position. An actual torque amount is iteratively detected as transferred across the clutch. A vehicle speed-control mechanism is commanded to maintain the calculated vehicle speed, and the actual vehicle speed is iteratively detected. When comparing the commanded vehicle speed to the detected actual vehicle speed indicates that the detected actual vehicle speed is below a speed threshold, and when the actual torque amount transferred across the clutch exceeds a torque threshold, the control system commands an increase in vehicle speed.

PLUG-IN COUPLING SYSTEM AND COUPLING SYSTEM
20210300136 · 2021-09-30 ·

A plug-in coupling system for connecting a motorized vehicle and a transport unit, including a plug-in device which can be mounted on the transport unit side and has a plug, and a plug socket which can be mounted on the vehicle side and into which the plug can be inserted in an operating state. The plug and the plug socket (9) have at least one transmitter and at least one receiver of a contactless communication system having a short range.

Combination tandem puller
11104193 · 2021-08-31 ·

A combination tandem puller for releasing a trailer from a tractor in a tractor trailer includes a shaft section having a first end and a second end, a handle attached to the first end of the shaft section, a hook section attached to the second end of the shaft section, and a forked tab attached to and extending from the shaft section.

Retractable pull handle assemblies for fifth wheels

A fifth wheel for locking to a kingpin of a towed trailer includes an operating arm pivotable into and between a locked position for locking the kingpin in the fifth wheel and an unlocked position in which the kingpin can be removed from or inserted into the fifth wheel and a housing coupled to the operating arm. A pull handle is slidable in the housing into and between an extended position in which the pull handle extends from the housing and a retracted position in which the pull handle is retracted into the housing. A spring in the housing biases the pull handle towards the retracted position. When the operating arm is pivoted into the locked position the pull handle is forced into the extended position, and after the operating arm is pivoted to the unlocked position the pull handle moves to the retracted position.
