Provided is an air-ground use vehicle capable of opening and closing a door, while a main wing is folded along a fuselage, without interfering with the main wing. The air-ground use vehicle includes: a main wing; a fuselage; a sliding door provided in a side surface of the fuselage; and a hinge mechanism that connects the main wing to the fuselage and that is capable of rotating between a first state, in which the main wing 4 is folded along the fuselage, and a second state, in which the main wing is opened to a side of the fuselage. In the first state, the sliding door opens and closes by sliding in a space formed between the main wing and the fuselage, with an outer surface of the fuselage and an inner surface of the sliding door facing each other.

An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has a flight-only mode with a motor only rotating propellers and not rotating on-board wheels to configure the UAV to fly away from a surface of a structure, and a crawling-only mode in which the UAV is configured to crawl on the surface due to the motor only rotating the wheels while not rotating the propellers. In the flight-only mode, a clutch disengages a motor from the wheels so that the motor only engages the propellers to fly to lift from the surface. In the crawling-only mode, the clutch disengages the motor from the propellers so that the motor only engages the wheels to move the UAV on the surface.

The operation unit includes a handle and a step. The handle of the operation unit includes a throttle unit. The controller is configured to control, both during the ground traveling and during the flight, yawing of the land-and-air vehicle in response to an operation performed on the handle, and to control thrust for the land-and-air vehicle during the flight in response to an operation performed on the throttle unit.

An air and road vehicle system includes a road vehicle having a chassis, a plurality of wheels, an engine, and a cabin area. A flight vehicle having a main body, wings, flight control surfaces, and a plurality of propulsion devices is removably coupled to the road vehicle by a plurality of docking mechanisms. In the connected orientation, the top end of the road vehicle is connected to the bottom surface of the wings, and the back end of the road vehicle is connected to the main body via an elongated catch tongue. Controllers on the flight vehicle and road vehicle are communicatively linked wirelessly or via hardwire receptacles. In the disconnected orientation, the road vehicle is functional as a road motor vehicle, and in the connected orientation, the flight vehicle and the road vehicle are functional for flight in a vertical or horizontal orientation.
