Apparatus for chopping and discharging straw from a combine harvester
A chopper for receiving the straw and/or chaff from a combine harvester includes a housing with a chopping rotor to transport the materials though a discharge opening onto a tailboard construction with downwardly facing guide surface and fins for spreading of the crop materials. A rotary spreader has a plurality of fan members with blades rotatable for discharge to a respective side of the rotary spreader. An arrangement is operable so that in a first mode the crop material is spread wholly by the tailboard and in a second mode the crop material is spread at least mainly by the rotary spreader. In the second mode the tailboard remains position above the rotary spreader which is therefore located underneath a guide surface with fins of the guide surface facing downwardly adjacent the blades. The movement to the second ode is provided by the rotary spreader being moved forwardly and downwardly.
Separably-driven rotor portions and associated method for threshing grain
A combine harvester with separably driven rotor portions for threshing grain is described herein.

Transition cone liner for a farm combine
A liner panel for a transition cone of a farm combine is provided. The liner panel is configured to absorb abrasive forces caused by crop cuttings moving across an inner surface of the transition cone. The liner panel includes an upper edge having a length. A lower edge is positioned opposite the upper edge and has a length that is smaller than the length of the upper edge. Opposing side edges are connected to the upper edge and lower edge. The upper edge, lower edge and opposing edges cooperate such that the liner panel has a tapered shape.
SELF-CLEANING ROCK SUMP FOR AN AGRICULTURAL HARVESTER AND RELATED SYSTEMS AND METHODS
A self-cleaning sump for an agricultural harvester may include a collection chamber defining a top end and a bottom end. The self-cleaning sump may also include a sump door positioned at the bottom end of the collection chamber, with the sump door being movable between an opened position and a closed position. Additionally, the self-cleaning sump may include a cleaning device movable within the collection chamber between a raised position and a lowered position and an actuator coupled to the cleaning device. The actuator may be configured to actuate the cleaning device between the raised and lowered positions independent of the sump door. When the actuator is activated, the cleaning device may be configured to contact collected material contained within the collection chamber as the cleaning device is moved within the collection chamber between the top and bottom ends of the chamber.

Combine Harvesters For Use In Harvesting Corn, And Related Methods
Combine harvesters are provided for use in harvesting seed corn from corn plants in fields. In connection therewith, a method for producing such seed corn from the corn plants, for use in growing subsequent corn plants, includes measuring a moisture content of corn kernels on ears of the corn plants in the field and removing, by one of the combine harvesters, the ears of corn from the corn plants when the moisture content satisfies a threshold moisture content. The method then includes separating the corn kernels from cobs of the ears of corn onboard the combine harvester and collecting the separated corn kernels for use as seed corn, whereby one or more subsequent corn plants can be grown from the collected corn kernels.

Feeder conveyor assembly tensioning mechanism
A feeder for a combine harvester, the feeder including a housing and a conveyor assembly mounted in the housing. The conveyor assembly includes a frame having lateral support arms, and moveable belts guided by sprocket wheels. The sprocket wheels are mounted on a drive shaft proximate an outlet section of the housing and on a conveyor shaft proximate an inlet section of the housing. The sprocket wheels are mounted on a drive shaft proximate an outlet section of the housing and on a conveyor shaft proximate an inlet section. The conveyor assembly is equipped with a first and second tensioning mechanism, the first mechanism being configured to push the conveyor shaft forward with respect to the frame, the second mechanism including spring-operated tensioning arms and tensioning rolls mounted above the support arms.
