Suspension shock absorber
11311815 · 2022-04-26 ·

A suspension shock absorber for remote control (RC) cars includes an inner tube and an outer tube coaxial with each other. The hollow area inside the inner tube defines a hollow chamber where a piston and a piston rod slidably moves. A shock cap seals the top of the inner tube and the outer tube. The space between the coaxial inner tube and outer tube is used as an inter-tube bypass route through which bypass oil flows. The shock cap has a bypass passage connecting the inter-tube bypass route with the upper portion of the hollow chamber. A bypass valve in line with the co-axis of the inner tube and the outer tube is disposed on top of the shock cap and used to regulate the amount of oil flow through the bypass passage.

A control unit that controls control currents supplied to shock absorbers that generate damping forces according to the control currents determines coefficients of two functions that functionally identify an equivalent damping coefficient and an equivalent spring constant of each suspension based on relationships between the control current supplied to each shock absorber and the coefficients of the two functions that change according to the control current and a frequency of a relative vibration between a sprung and an unsprung of a vehicle, and calculates a relative displacement or a relative velocity between the sprung and the unsprung based on a vertical acceleration detected by a detection device and the two functions in which the coefficients are determined.

Disclosed herein is a cross-linked system comprising a first shock assembly and a second shock assembly. A first line is fluidly coupled with a first rebound chamber of the first shock assembly and a second compression chamber of the second shock assembly. The first line allows fluid to flow between the first rebound chamber and the second compression chamber. A second line is fluidly coupled with a first compression chamber of the first shock assembly and a second rebound chamber of the second shock assembly. The second line allows fluid to flow between the first compression chamber and the second rebound chamber. A reservoir is fluidly coupled to the first line and the second line.

DUAL RATE VEHICLE SUSPENSION SYSTEM WITH ADJUSTABLE RIDE HEIGHT

A spring configuration comprises a cylindrical damper (5), a primary coil spring (9) with a first predetermined spring rate K1, and a secondary coil spring (11) with a second predetermined spring rate K2, the coil springs arranged about the cylindrical damper (5) in series so as to provide a total combined spring rate KT, an actuator (20) configured to compress and decompress the coil springs (9, 11), a stop (12) configured to deactivate the secondary coil spring (11) at a stop position, such that, when the system is in a first, comfort, mode, the overall suspension spring rate is defined by the series equation 1/KT=1/K1+1/K2, and when the system is in a second, handling, mode, the overall vehicle suspension spring rate is defined by the series equation KT=K1, thus selectively and switchably providing both a low rate, optimal ride comfort setting and a high rate, optimal handling lower ride height setting.

Off road vehicle

An off-road vehicle includes a frame, a front suspension, and a rear suspension. In some examples of the off-road vehicle, the rear suspension includes trailing arms with are pivotally attached to the frame rearward of an operator area. Further, the frame can include a front subframe assembly and a rear subframe assembly which are easily removable from the main frame of the vehicle to permit access to various components of the off-road vehicle.

Variable-damping hydraulic shock-absorber for a vehicle suspension

A shock-absorber has a cylindrical body having an inner and an outer cylindrical tubes enclosing a reservoir chamber containing oil, and a rod. A piston divides the internal volume of the inner cylindrical tube into a rebound chamber and a compression chamber. The cylindrical body has an intermediate cylindrical tube enclosing with the inner cylindrical tube an intermediate chamber. A first electronically-controlled valve is arranged inside the inner cylindrical tube, so as to be drivingly connected to the rod, and hydraulically connected to the rebound chamber and to the compression chamber to adjust, during rebound phase, flow of the damping fluid from the rebound chamber to the compression chamber. A second electronically-controlled valve is arranged outside the cylindrical body and is hydraulically connected to the reservoir chamber and to the intermediate chamber to adjust, during compression phase, flow of the damping fluid from the compression chamber to the reservoir chamber via the intermediate chamber.

A damper assembly includes a damper with a pressure tube and a piston slidably disposed within the pressure tube. A first working chamber is defined on one side of the piston and a second working chamber is defined on an opposite side of the piston such that a volume of the second working chamber decreases during a compression stroke of the piston and the volume of the second working chamber increases during a rebound stroke of the piston. A bellow accumulator assembly is included and in fluid communication with the second working chamber. The bellow accumulator assembly includes a housing, a bellow accumulator disposed within the housing, a pressurized gas chamber defined between the housing and the bellow accumulator and an accumulator chamber defined between the bellow accumulator and the second working chamber.

Universal Axle-Hub Assembly

A universal axle-hub assembly is provided for an off-road vehicle. The universal axle-hub assembly comprises a wheel hub that receives a constant velocity (CV) axle snout into an opening extending through an axle support of the wheel hub. An outboard-most portion of the opening is a splined portion that engages with similar splines disposed on an outboard-most portion of the CV axle snout. An inboard-most portion of the opening is a smooth portion that receives a smooth portion of the CV axle snout. The axle support extends through an entirety of the width of a bearing that supports the wheel hub, such that the bearing supports the smooth portion of the CV axle snout and substantially eliminates shear forces acting on the splined portion of the CV axle snout. A bearing carrier supports the bearing and may be fastened onto a trailing arm or a spindle of the off-road vehicle.
