A height adjusting mechanism for a trailer includes first and second cross-beams, an interconnecting bar pivotally connected to the first and second cross-beams, an actuator that is connected to one of the first cross-beam or the second cross-beam to cause rotation of the first cross-beam and the second cross-beam between a first rotational position and a second rotational position. A locking mechanism is operable move between an unlocked position and a locked position to prevent pivoting of the first and second cross-beams with respect to the interconnecting bar. First and second pairs of wheels are connected to the first and second cross-beams by first and second pairs of torsion axles such that rotation of the first and second cross-beams causes rotation of the first and second pairs of torsion axles.

Disclosed herein is an axle cartridge member for receiving a pair of torsion stub axles. The axle cartridge member includes a pair of laterally opposed bases, with each base defining a cavity therein for receiving an elongated stub housing of the torsion stub axles. The axle cartridge member also includes a pair of axle mounts that each includes a lateral opening extending into the cavity defined in the respective base, and an arch including a crossbar extending at a height above the bases wherein the arch further includes a portion that extends upward from each of the bases at an angle and meets the crossbar that extends generally horizontally between the portions of the arch.

A second mode may correspond to lowering two controllable components corresponding to the rear wheels of the vehicle and raising two controllable components corresponding to front wheels of the vehicle. A third mode may correspond to a lowering of the plurality of controllable components to effectively drop the height of the vehicle to a threshold point. The system may further implement various validation processes that can validate the determined suspension mode and make further adjustment to individual controllable portions based on load or ground measurements.

Methods for performing a leveling operation include utilizing left and right air suspensions of the recreational vehicle in combination with operating a front jack of the recreational vehicle until the recreational vehicle is level along lateral and longitudinal axes.
