An apparatus and methods are provided for a modular front drivetrain comprising a single assembly that may be installed onto and removed from a vehicle. The modular front drivetrain comprises a modular chassis supporting a transaxle, a front differential, and a steering gear for operating front wheels of the vehicle. The transaxle, the front differential and drive axles convey torque from an engine onboard the vehicle to the front wheels. A spindle assembly is coupled with each front wheel of the vehicle and pivotally joined with the modular chassis by way of a front suspension system. Steering rods coupled with the spindle assemblies horizontally rotate the front wheels according to operation of a steering wheel onboard the vehicle. The modular front drivetrain advantageously facilitates replacing an entire drivetrain and suspension assembly quickly and easily in the event of a part failure during racing applications.

VEHICLE CHASSIS HAVING TWIN WALLED BEAMS WITH SUSPENSION MOUNTING STRUCTURE

Provided is a work vehicle including a wheel support member including an axle that supports a pair of left and right travel wheels; a link mechanism that is provided spanning between a vehicle body and the wheel support member, and that supports the wheel support member such that the wheel support member can be raised and lowered; and a suspension mechanism that is provided spanning between a suspension support section formed on the vehicle body and the wheel support member, and that elastically supports the wheel support member.

Vehicle comprising energy harvesting suspension system, and method for converting mechanical energy into electrical energy
11203242 · 2021-12-21 ·

A vehicle incorporates a gravity-assist energy harvesting suspension system including one or more gravitational positive displacement pumps. The positive displacement pump has a cylinder and a reciprocating piston inside the cylinder. The piston is adapted for movement along a compression stroke and an opposite extension stroke in response to a gravitational bounce of the vehicle when in motion. A turbine comprising a rotor shaft and attached blades is mounted relative to a distal end of a fluid outlet hose connected to the pump. Fluid discharged through the outlet hose acts on the blades, thereby moving and imparting rotational energy to the rotor shaft. A generator is operatively connected to the turbine, and is adapted for converting the rotational energy generated by the rotor shaft to electrical energy.

Stabilizer device and stabilizer system

In a stabilizer device, a stabilizer bar having both ends connected to right and left wheel holding portions is supported at a pair of right and left supported portions of the stabilizer bar by a vehicle body via a pair of cylinders that can be extended and retracted based on vertical movement of wheels. The stabilizer device includes two communication passages, each of which allows one of two liquid chambers of one of the pair of cylinders and the other of two liquid chambers of the other cylinder to communicate with each other. The stabilizer device further includes an inter-passage communication passage that allows the two communication passages to communicate with each other, and an on-off valve that is opened and closed to open and close the inter-passage communication passage.

Suspension system

Multi-link suspension systems for vehicle are described having various linkage arms that connect to distinct points of a wheel mount. Each of the linkage arms are preferably coupled to the wheel mount via a spherical ball joint and mounted such that they can independently move with respect to the other linkage arms. A shock assembly is preferably mounted between two of the linkage arms on a separate links that is configured to vary its length based on movement of one or both of the two linkage arms.

MILITARY VEHICLE

A military vehicle includes a passenger capsule including a roof, a floor, and sidewalls that define an interior, a driver seat and a passenger seat disposed within the interior of the passenger capsule, and a belly deflector coupled to an exterior of the passenger capsule and positioned beneath the floor. The belly deflector is spaced from the floor such that the floor is configured as a floating floor. The floor and the belly deflector provide two levels of underbody protection.

MODULAR CHASSIS

A modular chassis is provided for an off-road vehicle to improve assembly, servicing, and repairing of a drivetrain of the off-road vehicle. The modular chassis includes a chassis to support components of the off-road vehicle. A front frame module couples with a front of the chassis, and a rear frame module couples with a rear of the chassis. The front frame module supports lower suspension arms of the off-road vehicle by way of inboard bushing joints. The front frame module supports at least a steering gear and a front differential of the off-road vehicle. The rear frame module is a tube-frame structure that supports components of the off-road vehicle. A lower portion of the rear frame module extends rearward and acutely upward to a top frame member that couples with upper side portions of the chassis. Several cross-members impart structural integrity to the rear frame module.
