The suspension assembly may include a first spring assembly and a second spring assembly. The first spring assembly may be disposed about a first spring axis and coupled to the first pivot arm. The second spring assembly may be disposed about a second spring axis and coupled to the second pivot arm. The first spring axis and the second spring axis may be disposed relative to each other at an angle of no greater than about 150 when the mobility vehicle is operating on horizontal ground.

Suspension for wheeled vehicles

A wheelchair suspension comprises a frame, at least one pivot arm, at least one front caster, at least one rear caster, a stabilizing system, and a sensor. The pivot arm is coupled to the frame. The front caster is coupled to the pivot arm. The rear caster is coupled to the frame. The stabilizing system is coupled to the frame and the pivot arm. The sensor is arranged such that tipping of the frame causes actuation of the stabilizing system to at least partially resist further movement of the frame.

Wheelchair suspension

A wheelchair suspension assembly includes a frame, a drive assembly, an anti-tip linkage, a front anti-tip wheel, and a rear anti-tip wheel. The drive assembly includes a drive wheel. The front anti-tip wheel is positioned forward of the drive wheel by the anti-tip linkage. The rear anti-tip wheel is positioned rearward of the drive wheel the anti-tip linkage. The anti-tip linkage couples the front anti-tip wheel to the rear anti-tip wheel such that upward movement of the front anti-tip wheel relative to the frame causes upward movement of the rear anti-tip wheel relative to the frame. The anti-tip linkage includes a front anti-tip pivot arm that is pivotally coupled to the frame, a rear anti-tip pivot arm that is pivotally coupled to the frame, and a connecting link that couples the front anti-tip pivot arm and the rear anti-tip pivot arm.

The adjustment mechanism moves the one or more arms between a first position and a second position so that the one or more first wheels are in a first position relative to the one or more second wheels when the one or more arms are in the first position and are in a second position relative to the one or more second wheels when the one or more arms are in the second position.

The first and second pivotal connections are positioned such that a majority of the force applied by the spring and shock absorbing assembly is applied to the drive wheel when the suspension is on a flat, horizontal support surface.

A self-leveling mechanism for a mobility device, the mobility device including a chassis configured to propel the mobility device on a surface, includes a leveling structure on which is mounted a user support for supporting a user of the mobility device. The leveling structure is connected to the chassis by a swivel connection that enables the leveling structure to swivel about the connection, and by two linearly displaceable connections that are laterally displaced from one another. Two linear actuators are each configured to displace one of the displaceable connections to adjust a distance between each displaceable connection and the chassis. A sensor for senses a tilt of the leveling structure and a controller is configured to operate the linear actuators in accordance with the sensed tilt.
