An appliance includes a control console. The control console includes a console cover with a circuit board. A front surface of the circuit board is attached to an interior surface of the console cover. A capacitive touch sensor is in operative communication with a face surface of the console cover and an LED is on a back surface of the circuit board. A light guide is mounted on the circuit board and provides optical communication from the LED to the face surface of the console cover.

A safety device against leaks of liquid for a liquid-conducting household appliance comprises a valve arrangement that can be electrically switched between a closing position and an opening position, to prevent or enable, respectively, a flow of liquid from a liquid-supply source to the household appliance. The device further comprises:a first pipe (13) impermeable to liquid, for the flow of liquid,at least one hydraulic unit (12), having a duct for the liquid (30),a flow sensor in the at least one hydraulic unit (12). The first pipe (13) is connected in fluid communication with the duct (30) and extends longitudinally at least in part within a second pipe (14) that is impermeable to liquid, in such a way that defined between at least part of the first pipe (13) and of the second pipe (14) is a gap (G) having a proximal end and a distal end. The at least one hydraulic unit (12) has a respective hydraulic body (16) that defines the duct (30). The flow sensor is a non-mechanical flow sensor that includes at least two electrical detection elements (42) within the duct (30).

A lifting device for a dishwashing machine includes an electrical drive mechanism constructed to move a dishware receptacle of the dishwashing machine between a start position and an end position. A detection unit detects a current draw of the electrical drive mechanism over a travel distance of the dishware receptacle in the dishwashing machine, and an identification unit identifies a status of the lifting device on the basis of the current draw of the electrical drive mechanism detected over the travel distance.

A method of controlling a dishwasher is disclosed. The method includes supplying water to a sump, driving a wash pump using a wash motor, introducing a detergent into a tub, and determining whether the amount of bubbles is excessive based on the value of current applied to the wash motor. The determining whether the amount of bubbles is excessive is performed after a lapse of a predetermined period of time since the start of the introducing the detergent into the tub.

An appliance with automatic sensing of printed circuit board (PCB) trace integrity and associated methods of sensing are provided. The appliance may include a controller operative to control operation of the appliance, a load in operative communication with the controller, and a PCB. The PCB may include a first trace supplying AC power to the load, a second trace supplying a return path for the AC power, a third trace supplying an alternate return path for the AC power, and current sensing circuitry. The current sensing circuitry may be configured to sense leakage current between the first trace and the third trace, with the leakage current being indicative of declining trace integrity of the PCB.

A diverter valve assembly includes a manifold defining a plenum with an inlet and multiple outlets, a membrane movably mounted within the plenum and having at least one through opening, which is sequentially aligned with the multiple outlets upon movement of the membrane, indicia provided on the membrane corresponding to each of the multiple outlets, and a sensor configured to sense the indicia and provide an output of the sensed indicia.

Provided is a method of operating a dishwasher including a heat pump circuit, wherein a condensate collection container is associated with an evaporator of the heat pump circuit. The method may include the steps of pumping a washing liquid from a sump of the dishwasher using a pump device, opening a first valve in a condensate conduit connecting the condensate collection container with a suction conduit of the pump device, pumping a condensate from the condensate collection container using the pump device. The cleaning device is furthermore designed to control the electromechanical drive in accordance with the detection of the action of the manual force.

A flood detection sensor for a dishwasher appliance is provided. The flood detection sensor includes features that allow for detection of flood events or tub overfills without sacrificing performance or efficiency of the dishwasher during normal operating conditions and for secure mounting to a tub lip of the dishwasher.

A household dishwasher includes a washing compartment receiving items to be washed, a control device configured to carry out a washing program selected from a number of washing programs for washing the items to be washed in the washing compartment, an optical sensor configured to acquire an optical sensor signal of the items to be washed in the washing compartment, and an evaluation unit configured to identify a drying state of the items to be washed in the washing compartment as a function of the acquired optical sensor signal.
