Trajectory-based chassis control
10654333 · 2020-05-19 · ·

A method for regulating an active chassis of a motor vehicle as a function of road elevation profile data which lie within a prognosis for a trajectory of the motor vehicle. The prognosis of the trajectory is calculated by a mathematical model at least on the basis of steering angle data of a steering angle sensor of the motor vehicle. The prognosis of the trajectory is assigned to the road elevation profile data detected by at least one environmental sensor. Based on the prognosis, at least one actuator of the active chassis is controlled, and the prognosis of the trajectory is then used exclusively to control the active chassis when the trajectory lies in an area that was classified as navigable based on the environmental data that was detected by at least one environment sensor.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CONTROLLING GROUND INCLINATION OF ROTARY CUTTING MACHINES

A machine for road work can comprise a frame, a plurality of ground engaging units, a plurality of vertically moveable legs, each leg connecting one of the plurality of ground engaging units to the frame, a pair of spatial sensors, such as global navigation satellite system (GNSS) sensors, and a controller configured to, in response to a three-dimensional signal received from each of the spatial sensors, activate at least some of the plurality of vertically moveable legs.

Methods and systems for navigating a vehicle including a novel fiducial marker system

Methods and systems for navigating a vehicle along a surface employ a scanner to scan a light beam over the surface; employ light reflected by one or more fiducial markers on the surface onto pixels of a receiver to determine a spatial arrangement of the fiducial markers on the surface; and compare the spatial arrangement of the fiducial markers with a predetermined map of the fiducial markers to determine a location of the vehicle.

Vehicle having adjustable suspension

A damping control system for a vehicle having a suspension located between a plurality of ground engaging members and a vehicle frame includes at least one adjustable shock absorber having an adjustable damping profile.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MITIGATING SADDLE FUEL TANK JET PUMP FAILURE

Methods and systems are provided for enabling a vehicle for which a jet pump that functions to transfer fuel from a passive side to an active side of a saddle fuel tank is degraded, to reach a desired destination by the taking of mitigating action. The mitigating action includes conducting a driving maneuver in response to an indication that the jet pump is degraded, the driving maneuver conducted in order to transfer a desired amount of fuel from the passive side to the active side. In this way, a vehicle may reach a desired destination even under circumstances where the vehicle may otherwise be unable to reach the desired destination.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ALERTING DRIVERS OF EXCESSIVE TONGUE WEIGHT

A vehicle includes a suspension that includes a front suspension and a rear suspension, a trailer hitch configured to removably connect to a tongue of a trailer, at least one front suspension transducer configured to generate a front suspension displacement signal, at least one rear suspension transducer configured to generate a rear suspension displacement signal, and an electronic control unit. The electronic control unit is configured to receive the front suspension displacement signal, receive the rear suspension displacement signal, and generate an alert of an excessive tongue weight condition based on one or more of the front suspension displacement signal and the rear suspension displacement signal.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR RESPONDING TO ROAD SURFACE DISCONTINUITIES

Disclosed embodiments are related to suspension systems including dampers and suspension actuators and related methods of control for mitigating the effects of potholes and other road surface discontinuities.

Damping control device for vehicle, damping control system, damping control method, and data providing device

A damping control device is configured to acquire, as a preview condition amount, an unsprung condition amount at a predicted passing position where a wheel of a vehicle is predicted to pass, based on preview reference data being sets of data in which unsprung condition amounts and pieces of positional information of the wheel are linked to each other. The unsprung condition amounts indicate a displacement condition of an unsprung portion displaced in a vertical direction due to a displacement of a road surface acquired when the vehicle has traveled on the road surface. The damping control device is configured to execute, at a timing when the wheel passes through the predicted passing position, preview damping control to cause control force to agree with a target control force.

Suspension control system and method with event detection based on unsprung mass acceleration data and pre-emptive road data
11932072 · 2024-03-19 · ·

A suspension control system including a suspension control unit, an unsprung mass accelerometer positioned at each wheel of the vehicle, and a global positioning system. The suspension control unit determines if a road irregularity, such as a bump or pothole, is approaching based on vehicle location data, provides pre-emptive road event classification information for the approaching road irregularity, and sets both a threshold based suspension pre-setting and a threshold based pre-trigger based on the pre-emptive road event classification information. The suspension control unit monitors the unsprung mass acceleration data, calculates a slope value for the unsprung mass acceleration data, and activates a suspension control action if the unsprung mass acceleration data exceeds the threshold based pre-trigger and the slope value exceeds a maximum slope value.
