Systems and methods to determine abnormalities in a vehicle stabilizer system
Systems and methods to detect abnormalities within a stabilizer system for a vehicle. A method includes receiving suspension system data from one or more vehicle sensors, calculating a roll gradient from the suspension system data, determining whether the calculated roll gradient is greater than a predetermined roll gradient threshold, and setting a diagnostic notification if the calculated roll gradient is greater than the predetermined roll gradient threshold.
Method for detecting a defective damper device of a vehicle
A method for detecting a defective damper device of a vehicle, including the following steps: monitoring the specific damper travel values (DW) of at least two wheel carriers of the vehicle in a monitoring period (UZ), determining the specific damper speeds (DG) and the specific damper accelerations (DB) on the basis of the monitored specific damper travel values (DW) in the monitoring period (UZ), acquiring the specific damper work values (DA) on the basis of the determined specific damper speeds (DG) and on the basis of the determined specific damper accelerations (DB), generating a comparison result (VE) from a comparison of the acquired specific damper work values (DA) with one another, and generating at least one specific status signal (SS) on the basis of the comparison result (VE) for the at least two wheel carriers.
SUSPENSION-SYSTEM DEGRADATION DETECTION
A computer includes a processor and a memory storing processor-executable instructions. The processor is programmed to record steering-system torque in response to a difference between a detected steering angle and a requested steering angle exceeding an angle threshold, increment a counter based on the recorded steering-system torque, and set a repair indicator in response to the counter exceeding a counter threshold.
VEHICLE AND METHOD FOR SUSPENSION SPRING DEGRADATION DETECTION AND FAULT TOLERANT TIRE FORCE ESTIMATION
A method of controlling an active aerodynamic system of a vehicle includes calculating a first spring force estimated value from at least one sensed vehicle handling characteristic, and a second spring force estimated value from a nominal spring characteristic curve. When a difference between the first and second spring force estimated values is equal to or greater than a spring threshold value, a nominal spring characteristic curve is adjusted to define an adjusted spring characteristic curve, and the active aerodynamic system is controlled using the adjusted spring characteristic curve. When the difference between the first and second spring force estimated values is equal to or greater than the spring threshold value, a signal may also be engaged to provide a service recommendation.
DRIVE CIRCUIT ANOMALY DIAGNOSING DEVICE
A drive circuit anomaly diagnosing device of the present invention performs an anomaly diagnosis on a drive circuit including a power supply line on which a solenoid is disposed midway, a main switch disposed on the power source side relative to the solenoid, a first diode disposed on a protection line connecting a point between the main switch and the solenoid to ground with a forward direction corresponding to a direction from the ground side to the power source side, and a first capacitor interposed on a first line connecting a point between the protection line and the solenoid to the ground midway on the power supply line, the drive circuit being configured to supply power to the solenoid, on the basis of a current detected by a first current sensor disposed upstream of the main switch on the power supply line.
Valve diagnostic systems and methods
A state module selectively sets a present state to a first state in a predetermined order of states; a valve control module determines first target open and closed states for valves of a suspension system based on the present state and opens and closes the valves according to the first target open and closed states, respectively; a pump control module configured to, when the valves are in the first target open and closed states, respectively, selectively operate an electric pump of the suspension system in a first direction and pump hydraulic fluid toward the suspension system; and a diagnosis module configured to: record first and second values of pressures within the suspension system measured using pressure sensors, respectively, before and after the operation of the electric pump in the first direction, respectively; and selectively diagnose faults in a first subset of the valves based on whether pressure increases occurred.
Suspension leak check systems and methods
A system includes: a state module configured to selectively set a present state to a first state; a valve control module configured to determine first target open and closed states for valves of a suspension system based on the present state and to open and close the valves according to the first target open and closed states, respectively; a pump control module configured to, when the valves are in the first target open and closed states, respectively, selectively operate an electric pump in a first direction to increase hydraulic fluid pressure in a first portion of the suspension system; and a leak module configured to selectively diagnose a leak in a first one of the valves associated with the first state based on a first pressure in the first portion of the suspension system while the valves are open and closed according to the first target open and closed states.
SOCKET JOINT WITH SEALED WEAR INDICATOR AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURE
A socket joint includes a stud, a wear indicator configured to indicate a degree of wear relating to the stud or relating to a position of the stud, an elastomeric seal, and a Belleville washer. The elastomeric seal is located at least partially between the wear indicator and the Belleville washer. In some implementations, a domed cover plate is configured to help create a sealing engagement between the elastomeric seal, the wear indicator, and the Belleville washer when the cover plate is pressed into the internal bore of the housing of the socket joint.
Vehicle fuel cooling
An engine coolant temperature at an expected time of activation of a vehicle is predicted. Upon determining that the predicted engine coolant temperature is greater than an ambient air temperature by a temperature threshold, a vehicle component is actuated at a time determined based on the expected time of activation.
Recognition of degraded performance in a vehicle suspension system
A method for estimating damping characteristics of shock absorbers in an active or semi-active suspension involves providing a reference model of a nominal relation between a road severity index related to vertical acceleration values, and the mean driving current of the control valves of the shock absorbers, acquiring respective relative acceleration or speed data of at least the front wheels of the vehicle with respect to the vehicle body, determining a value of the road severity index starting from relative acceleration or speed data of the front wheels of the vehicle with respect to the vehicle body, acquiring values representative of the mean driving current of the control valve of each shock absorber, comparing acquired value of the mean driving current with an expected value of the nominal mean driving current determined as a function of the road severity index according to the reference model, and determining a degradation condition if the acquired value does not correspond to the expected value.
