A ventilation system is provided for a transportation vehicle having a passenger cabin with an interior trim surface. A stationary duct segment receives an inlet air flow and has a stationary outlet hidden behind the interior trim surface. A telescoping duct segment has a sliding inlet sealingly coupled to the stationary outlet so that it slides on the stationary outlet between a retracted position and an extended position. The telescoping duct segment has a movable outlet arranged to provide a variable flow cross section to the passenger cabin that increases as the telescoping duct segment slides from the retracted position to the extended position. A trim hood provides a portion of the interior trim surface and is movable with the telescoping duct segment. The trim hood has a pivot axis at an end of the trim hood remote from the movable outlet.

The present invention relates to a flap (14) for an air extractor (10), in particular of a motor vehicle, said flap comprising a rigid or semi-rigid wall (42) and articulation means (40) to allow a pivoting of the flap about an axis (A) substantially parallel to the wall, wherein the articulation means are located on a single edge (44) of the wall. The articulation means are spaced from said wall and comprise a swivel element (40). The swivel elements are preferably spherical or rod shaped. It also relates to an air extractor (10), in particular of a motor vehicle, comprising a support (12) having at least one window defining an opening for the passage of air and at least one flap (14) as described above and movable between a position of closure of the opening and a position of opening up this opening.

A motor vehicle is provided in which cold air is prevented from flowing forwards from the rear region to the front seats when travelling with an open top. At least one air outlet opening or air outlet nozzle is formed at a rear end of the center console, through which air outlet opening or air outlet nozzle warm air can flow out upwards and/or forwards between the two backrests of the two front seats. Further air outlet openings are provided in the two opposite B body pillars, through which air outlet openings warm air can flow out forwards in the direction of the backrests of the front seats and/or in the transverse direction of the vehicle into the rear region.

The housing includes a plurality of receptacle members with openings therebetween, and the flap is configured to be accepted by the housing and to contact the receptacle members in a closed position. Embodiments of the present invention are directed to a method and system for preventing ingestion of ambient air contaminated with possibly harmful, toxic, or flammable battery gases into a passenger compartment of a vehicle in the event of a battery failure. If an abnormal state is detected in a battery pack of the vehicle, the vehicle automatically switches the HVAC system to air recirculation mode, thereby preventing any toxic gas emitted from the battery pack from entering the passenger compartment.
