Vehicle body structure

A vehicle body structure includes a door, a latch mechanism and a secondary reinforcement member (an attenuation member). The door has an inner door panel and a reinforcement member installed thereto the inner door panel. The latch mechanism is installed the inner door panel such that in a latching orientation the latch mechanism retains the door in the closed orientation and in a release orientation the door can move to the open orientation. A rearward portion of the reinforcement member is outboard and level with a portion of the latch mechanism. The secondary reinforcement member is fixedly attached to a central area of the reinforcement member spaced apart from the rearward area of the inner door panel and spaced apart from a forward area of the inner door panel. In response to an impact event, the reinforcement member deforms and contacts the latch mechanism preventing movement of the latch mechanism.

The lateral roof assembly includes a lateral roof portion and at least a second sealing member. The door frame body surrounds at least partially the glazing element. The door frame body is movable between an open and closed position relative to the lateral roof assembly. The glazing element is adjustable between an open and closed position. The first sealing member is arranged between the glazing element and door frame body and seals the glazing element in the closed position of the glazing element. The second sealing member is arranged at the lateral roof portion and receives at least one edge of the glazing element in the closed position of the glazing element and door frame body.

A method and apparatus for providing a replacement door to a UTV/ATV to replace a mesh door with a panel door employs a hinge member that is mounted to the UTV/ATV after removal of the mesh door. The mesh door and other components are removed from the UTV/ATV. The hinge member includes a first and second angled flanges adapted to mount to the frame of the UTV/ATV after removal of the mesh door. Striker components are mounted to the frame to engage the door latches. The replacement panel door mounts to the hinge member and provides panel doors to the UTV/ATV.

The airbag is deployed from a container disposed on a lower side of the door to a region on a vehicle-widthwise outside of the door. The airbag includes a first air chamber and a second air chamber. After being deployed, the first air chamber has an upper end disposed higher than the door beam and a lower end disposed lower than an upper end of the side sill, at least within a range in which its position in a vehicle front-rear direction overlaps with a seating surface of a seat. The second air chamber extends across a lower part of the first air chamber and the container, and has a lower internal pressure than the first air chamber after being deployed.

Some embodiments are directed to a vehicle door that includes a door frame and a trim panel connected to the door frame. The vehicle door can also include an upper garnish connected to the door frame and including a connection portion. A bracket can be disposed along an edge of the trim panel and extend along a length of the door frame. The bracket can snap fit into the connection portion of the upper garnish, and a pinch sensor can be disposed on the bracket.

A side door assembly is provided for an automotive vehicle body having a side opening. The side door assembly includes a lower body front casting for hinged connection to the vehicle body. A lower body rear casting is also provided for latch connection of the vehicle door assembly to the vehicle. A vehicle door system for limiting an opening angle. The system includes a track connected to the door, a clamp unit connected to and movable in relation to the track, and a blocking member connected to a vehicle body structure. The track extends through the blocking member. In a first state, the clamp unit is moveable in relation to the track and, in a second state, the clamp unit is prevented from moving in relation to the track. In the first state when the door is opened the clamp unit moves along the track. When the door, in the open position, is at a predetermined angle, the clamp unit is at a locked position in relation to the track preventing further opening of the vehicle door through interaction between the clamp unit and the blocking member.
