A device, system and method for controlling speed of a vehicle are provided. The device includes a locational information module for determining location information and speed; a storage module for storing at least one geographic map including at least one route and a speed limit for the at least one route; a processing module configured to receive the location information, retrieve at least one geographic map based on the location information, determine a speed limit based on the location information and compare the speed of the device to the determined speed limit; and a display module for alerting a user if the speed of the device exceeds the determined speed limit. The system and method can be for communicating a subject vehicle's speed to a central server where it can be utilized to analyze traffic congestion patterns or notify selected companies or individuals.

The method includes: detecting a driving environment of a vehicle, to obtain a detection result of at least one type of target objects in the driving environment; determining whether the detection result meets a preset driving alert condition; in response to the detection result meeting the preset alert condition, determining whether a speed of the vehicle exceeds a speed threshold; and in response to the speed exceeding the speed threshold, triggering a driving alert according to the detection result.

DEVICE, SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING SPEED OF A VEHICLE USING A POSITIONAL INFORMATION DEVICE
A device, system and method notifying a selected recipient that a driver of a vehicle has exceeded a posted speed limit. The process includes determining, by the computing device located within the vehicle, that the driver of the vehicle committed a violation based on the information about the vehicle and the posted speed limit associated with a roadway on which the vehicle is traveling. Sending, from the computing device located in the vehicle to a remote computing device, an indication of the violation, wherein the indication about the violation includes the information about the vehicle, wherein the remote computing device is configured to instantly notify the selected recipient that the driver of the vehicle has committed the violation, wherein the selected recipient is notified by sending a notification to recipient.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DISPLAY CONTROL OF GAUGE GRAPHIC
A display system and a method for display control of a gauge graphic is provided. The display system controls the display device to display the gauge graphic. The gauge graphic includes a scale and a needle movable on the scale. The scale includes a first region and a second region. The display system detects a first movement of the needle beyond a first threshold marking on the scale and towards an end of the first region and controls the display device to gradually unmask a first gradation pattern in the second region based on the detected first movement. The display system further detects a second movement of the needle over the second region and controls the display device to change the unmasked first gradation pattern so that the unmasked first gradation pattern flashes with a defined frequency in the second region based on the detected second movement.

Method for controlling a vehicle, comprising: identifying an upcoming curve and determining its properties; determining current vehicle speed, v.sub.v, estimating friction, μ.sub.e, between a tire of the vehicle and the road; estimating maximum allowable vehicle speed, v.sub.max_e, when entering the curve based on the properties, speed and friction; if the current vehicle speed is higher than the estimated maximum allowable vehicle speed, determining that a friction measurement is required; if distance, d.sub.v, between the vehicle and a curve entrance is higher than a predetermined threshold distance, d.sub.T, and if a braking action is detected, performing a friction measurement during the braking action to determine current friction, μ.sub.c; if a distance between the vehicle and the curve entrance is lower than the predetermined threshold distance, performing a friction measurement to determine a current friction; and determining a maximum allowable vehicle speed v.sub.max_d based on the curve radius, speed and friction.

VEHICLE SAFETY APPARATUS AND METHOD
An apparatus including a computer processor; a computer memory, which communicates with the computer processor; and a sensor for detecting traffic signs, which communicates with the computer processor; wherein the computer memory includes data regarding a plurality of safety regulations for vehicles; and wherein the computer processor receives signals from the sensor, and determines whether a vehicle is violating one or more the safety regulations for vehicles based on the signals from the sensor and the data for the plurality of safety regulations stored in the computer memory, and provides a warning signal when a safety regulation is violated. The apparatus may further include a speedometer which communicates with the computer processor; wherein the computer processor is programmed by computer software stored in computer memory to receive speeds from the speedometer to determine if one or more of the safety regulations for vehicles have been violated.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SERVER BASED CONTROL
A system and method in a building or vehicle for an actuator operation in response to a sensor according to a control logic, the system comprising a router or a gateway communicating with a device associated with the sensor and a device associated with the actuator over in-building or in-vehicle networks, and an external Internet-connected control server associated with the control logic implementing a PID closed linear control loop and communicating with the router over external network for controlling the in-building or in-vehicle phenomenon. The sensor may be a microphone or a camera, and the system may include voice or image processing as part of the control logic. A redundancy is used by using multiple sensors or actuators, or by using multiple data paths over the building or vehicle internal or external communication. The networks may be wired or wireless, and may be BAN, PAN, LAN, WAN, or home networks.
