An input device is provided, such as for a vehicle, whereby a gesture may be provided to present an application associated with the gesture, even if another application is being displayed by an output. If a gesture does not match, the gesture may be processed as an input to the other application currently displayed. A time shift algorithm may be utilized to determine if the received gesture matches the gesture associated with the other application. Additionally, a dedicated close gesture may be utilized to dismiss a currently displayed application.

A method and system for assisting a user when interacting with a graphical user interface combines gaze based input with gesture based user commands. A user of a computer system without a traditional touch-screen can interact with graphical user interfaces in a touch-screen like manner using a combination of gaze based input and gesture based user commands. A solution for touch-screen like interaction uses gaze input and gesture based input as a complement or an alternative to touch-screen interactions with a computer device having a touch-screen. Combined gaze and gesture based interaction with graphical user interfaces can be used to achieve a touchscreen like environment in computer systems without a traditional touchscreen or in computer systems having a touchscreen arranged ergonomically unfavorable for the user or a touchscreen arranged such that it is more comfortable for the user to use gesture and gaze for the interaction than the touchscreen.

In a driving support device, an image output unit outputs an image including a vehicle object representing a vehicle and a peripheral situation of the vehicle, to a display unit. An operation signal input unit receives a gesture operation by a user that involves moving of the vehicle object in the image displayed on the display unit. A command output unit outputs a command according to the gesture operation, to an automatic driving control unit that controls automatic driving.

Specifically, a method to detect and identify a person near or within a vehicle as an authorized or an unauthorized user is provided. In the event an unauthorized user is detected within a vehicle, the system may take a number of actions. Method for controlling a vehicle system
A method for controlling a vehicle system by a user is provided. A series of sensor data is received, where a series of positions is generated and the position of a body part is determined from each element of the series of sensor data. A first position, a second position, and a third position are selected from the series of positions, and a first circumferential angle is determined, the angle being defined by the first, second, and third positions. A first circular direction in the clockwise direction is detected if the first circumferential angle lies between a first lower threshold value and a first upper threshold value, and a first circular direction in the counter clockwise direction is detected if the first circumferential angle lies between a second lower threshold value and a second upper threshold value. The vehicle system is controlled depending on the first circular direction detected.
Motor vehicle with at least one radar unit
A respective sensing region of at least one radar unit is oriented into a passenger compartment of the motor vehicle and a control device is configured to sense a position of a body part of a person and/or a movement of the body part in the passenger compartment on the basis of the reflection respectively received by the at least one radar unit, thus providing non-contact detection of the body part of the person in the motor vehicle. As viewed from the passenger compartment, the at least one radar unit can be arranged behind a display surface of a display device or alongside the display surface of the display device.
VIDEO DISPLAY SYSTEM FOR VEHICLE
A video display system for a vehicle includes a video display device disposed in the vehicle so as to be viewable by a driver of the vehicle. A camera is disposed at the vehicle and having an exterior field of view and operable to capture image data. A control includes a data processor. The control, responsive at least in part to processing by the data processor of captured image data, detects an object present exterior of the vehicle that is in the field of view of the camera, and determines if the detected object constitutes a hazardous condition. Responsive to determination of the hazardous condition, the control controls the video display device to automatically display an alert to the driver of the vehicle, with the alert including display of video images of the object that are derived from captured image data or a graphic overlay on displayed video images.
