Tractor Unit With On-Board Regenerative Braking Energy Storage for Stopover HVAC Operation Without Engine Idle
A through the road (TTR) hybridization strategy is proposed to facilitate introduction of hybrid electric vehicle technology in a significant portion of current and expected trucking fleets. In some cases, the technologies can be retrofitted onto an existing vehicle (e.g., a trailer, a tractor-trailer configuration, etc.). In some cases, the technologies can be built into new vehicles. In some cases, one vehicle may be built or retrofitted to operate in tandem with another and provide the hybridization benefits contemplated herein. By supplementing motive forces delivered through a primary drivetrain and fuel-fed engine with supplemental torque delivered at one or more electrically-powered drive axles, improvements in overall fuel efficiency and performance may be delivered, typically without significant redesign of existing components and systems that have been proven in the trucking industry.
Motor drive device
A motor drive device includes: an inverter circuit having a smoothing capacitor; a drive circuit portion which outputs an operation signal to the inverter circuit; a control portion which controls the drive circuit portion; and an operating voltage generation portion which supplies power to the drive circuit portion and the control portion by generating an operating voltage for the drive circuit portion and the control portion. The inverter circuit converts a DC voltage from a first power supply to an AC voltage and outputs the AC voltage to a multi-phase motor coil. The control portion outputs a signal to the drive circuit portion according to a command value from a high-level control device operating on power from a second power supply outputting a voltage lower than the first power supply. The operating voltage generation portion is capable of generating the operating voltage using power fed from either of the first power supply and the second power supply.
CURRENT MODULATION MODULE, PARAMETER DETERMINAION MODULE, BATTERY HEATING SYSTEM, AS WELL AS CONTROL METHOD AND CONTROL DEVICE THEREOF
The embodiments of the present application provide a current modulation module, a parameter determination module, a battery heating system, as well as a control method and a control device thereof, and relate to the field of battery. The control method includes determining a state of charge (SOC), of the battery, modulating a first current flowing into windings of a motor into an alternating current when the SOC is greater than a first SOC threshold, so as to use heat generated by the alternating current in a first target module to heat the battery, and modulating a second current flowing into the windings of the motor into a direct current when the SOC is less than or equal to the first SOC threshold, so as to use heat generated by the direct current in a second target module to heat the battery.
Vehicle thermal energy control system
A vehicle thermal energy control system that is able to achieve improved heat management in the entirety of a vehicle is provided. A thermal energy control system is provided in a vehicle and includes heat sources and a heat amount distributor configured to assign a demanded heat amount calculated from heat demands generated in the entirety of the vehicle, to each heat source on the basis of a suppliable heat amount of each heat source.

Apparatus, method and article for redistributing power storage devices, such as batteries, between collection, charging and distribution machines
A network of collection, charging and distribution machines collect, charge and distribute portable electrical energy storage devices. To charge, the machines employ electrical current from an external source. As demand at individual collection, charging and distribution machines increases or decreases relative to other collection, charging and distribution machines, a distribution management system initiates redistribution of portable electrical energy storage devices from one collection, charging and distribution machine to another collection, charging and distribution machine in an expeditious manner. Also, redeemable incentives are offered to users to return or exchange their portable electrical energy storage devices at selected collection, charging and distribution machines within the network to effect the redistribution.
Temperature control system for electric vehicle and method of controlling temperature of electric vehicle
A temperature control system to be installed in an electric vehicle includes a water circuit, a coolant circuit, a radiator, a heat exchanger, a water pump, and a controller. The water circuit circulates cooling water to cool an electric device. The coolant circuit circulates a coolant to control a temperature of a cabin or battery of the electric vehicle. The radiator is disposed in the water circuit. The heat exchanger is disposed in the coolant circuit and receives heat released from the radiator through cooling air delivered from the radiator. The water pump regulates a flow rate of the cooling water circulating in the water circuit. The controller increases the number of rotations of the water pump to a greater value in a condition where an increase in temperature of the cabin or the battery is requested than in a normal condition where the increase in temperature is not requested.
Apparatus, method and article for authentication, security and control of power storage devices, such as batteries
A network of collection, charging and distribution machines collect, charge and distribute portable electrical energy storage devices (e.g., batteries, supercapacitors or ultracapacitors). To charge, the machines employ electrical current from an external source, such as the electrical grid or an electrical service of an installation location. By default, each portable electrical energy storage device is disabled from accepting a charge unless it receives authentication information from an authorized collection, charging and distribution machine, other authorized charging device, or other authorized device that transmits the authentication credentials. Also, by default, each portable electrical energy storage device is disabled from releasing energy unless it receives authentication information from an external device to which it will provide power, such as a vehicle or other authorization device.
