An optical trocar system that includes an elongated obturator member having a first diameter. The elongated obturator member has a distal region, the distal region having a first diameter section having a diameter that is substantially equal to the first diameter of the elongated obturator member. The elongated obturator member has a second diameter section having a diameter that is less than the first diameter. The optical trocar system also includes an optical member attached to the distal region of the elongated obturator member such that the optical member encapsulates the second diameter section of the elongated obturator member and at least a portion of the first diameter section. A longitudinal bore through the elongated tubular obturator member is configured to receive an endoscope.

LIGHTING MODULE FOR A MEDICAL DEVICE AND METHODS FOR USING THE SAME

A lighting module includes a housing portion, a clip portion having a receiving space between configured to receive a speculum, an arm portion extending from the clip portion and including a lighting element, and a power source electrically connected to the lighting element. Also, a speculum assembly including a speculum and a lighting module is disclosed. Finally, a method of using a lighting module is disclosed.

THIN-WALLED SPIRAL TUBE FOR USE WITH ENDOSCOPE

A polymeric device including: an elongated hollow tube having an outer surface; and a spiral fin wound around the outer surface of the hollow tube; wherein the hollow tube and the spiral fin are formed of a single unitary piece through a molding process. The polymeric device can further include a longitudinal projection projecting from the outer surface of the hollow tube, the longitudinal projection having a greater thickness than other portions of the hollow tube and the longitudinal projection extending at least a portion of a longitudinal length of the hollow tube.

An endoscope apparatus capable of ensuring safe and compliant use includes an endoscope, a means for identification of the endoscope, a means for determining whether the endoscope is suitable for a given medical act utilizing the identification of the endoscope, and a disablement means that prevents utilization of the endoscope when determined the endoscope is not suitable for the given medical act. The identification may be on a tag fixed to the endoscope and/or container. The information is checked for a match in a cloud database to ensure the endoscope is the right device for the medical act. If not the right device, the endoscope is deactivated. If the right device, the endoscope is activated and the cloud database is updated accordingly. The cloud database can also be updated at each point in the distribution chain to allow complete traceability.

LAPAROSCOPIC VISUALIZATION SYSTEM

A Laparoscopic Visualization System comprising a sterile, self-contained, disposable apparatus used in medical procedures for heating and applying an anti-fog solution to the distal end of laparoscopes or surgical devices is presented. It additionally serves as an endoscopic lens protector and cleaner. An efficient heating and narrow range temperature control mechanism is used in combination with an anti-fog solution to provide clear visualization through a distal lens of the surgical device inserted into the system. The configuration prevents the anti-fog solution from spilling out of the system and is designed to also be used as a holder for the surgical scope, protecting the distal lens from impact with a shock absorbent outer shell, prior to, during, and after a medical procedure.
