Device and method for determining cleanliness of a rotating drum of a fresh concrete mixer truck

A method for determining cleanliness of a drum of a fresh concrete mixer truck. The method generally has: rotating the drum about the rotation axis with a constant torque; using a rotational speed sensor, measuring a plurality of speed values corresponding to speeds at which the drum rotates at different moments in time during said rotating; and using a controller, receiving the plurality of speed values; accessing calibration data having different reference speed values-related data associated to corresponding reference degrees of cleanliness of the drum; comparing at least some of the speed values to the calibration data; and determining a degree of cleanliness of the drum based on said comparison.

MIXER DRUM DRIVE WITH VARIABLE DISPLACEMENT MOTOR

A drum drive system includes a controller configured to selectively control an engine, a variable displacement pump, and a variable displacement motor of a vehicle to provide a target drum speed for a drum of the vehicle. To provide the target drum speed, the controller is configured to: (i) initially operate the variable displacement motor at a maximum motor displacement and operate the variable displacement pump at a pump displacement that provides the target drum speed without needing to actively manipulate an engine speed of the engine; (ii) increase the pump displacement and decrease a motor displacement without needing to actively manipulate the engine speed while still providing the target drum speed; and (iii) increase the engine speed in response to the pump displacement reaching a maximum pump displacement and the motor displacement reaching a minimum motor displacement if necessary to maintain the target drum speed.

Concrete drum control, property prediction, and monitoring systems and methods

A drum control system includes a mixture sensor and a controller. The mixture sensor is configured to be positioned within a drum to engage with drum contents to facilitate acquiring drum contents data indicative of a property of the drum contents. The controller is configured to control a drive system to rotate the drum at a first, unmixed speed following receipt of the drum contents by the drum where the drum contents including ingredients of a concrete mixture; acquire the drum contents data from the mixture sensor and monitor the property of the drum contents as the drum rotates; and control the drive system to rotate the drum at a second, mixed speed in response to determining that the property of the drum contents indicates that the ingredients have been sufficiently mixed.

Additive system for a concrete mixer truck

A concrete mixer vehicle includes a mixer drum, an additive admixture system, and a controller. The additive admixture system includes an air inlet valve, a fluid valve, an air valve, and a pump. The controller is configured to operate the additive admixture system to transition the additive admixture system between an additive addition mode, a drain mode, and a system clear mode. The controller transitions the additive admixture system into the additive addition mode and operates the pump until a desired amount of an additive is added to the mixer drum, transitions the additive admixture system into the drain mode for a predetermined amount of time in response to the desired amount of additive being added to the mixer drum, and transitions the additive admixture system into the system clear mode for a predetermined amount of time to clear stagnant fluid or built up mixture from the additive admixture system.

A vehicle includes a body defining a front, a rear, lateral sides extending between the front and the rear. The vehicle further includes a fluid delivery system supported by the body. The fluid delivery system includes an intake manifold disposed at the rear, the intake manifold being constructed and arranged to receive fluid from at least one external fluid source, an outlet disposed at the front, the outlet being constructed and arranged to distribute fluid from the at least one fluid source to an external target, and a fluid conduit coupled with the intake manifold and the outlet to convey the fluid from the intake manifold to the outlet through the body. The vehicle further includes track assemblies coupled with the body, the body being disposed between the track assemblies to enable the track assemblies to provide stability to the vehicle during high speed fluid discharge from the outlet.
