System and method for warning of an imminent collision between a towing vehicle and its trailer when reversing
A system for warning of an imminent collision between a towing vehicle (2) and a trailer (3) when reversing includes an arrangement for providing a warning signal to a driver of the vehicle dependent on an angle between a longitudinal axis of the towing vehicle (2) and a longitudinal axis of the trailer (3), when there is the threat of a collision between the towing vehicle (2) and the trailer (3) while reversing.
Motor vehicle and method for operating an illumination device of a motor vehicle
The present disclosure relates to a motor vehicle, comprising an illumination device, which comprises a plurality of light sources and a control device for illuminating an illumination region which can be simultaneously illuminated and which completely covers the surroundings of the motor vehicle in the circumferential direction. The illumination region is divided by the control device into illumination segments, which are controllable independently for illumination as part of at least one light function, in particular an assisting light function, of a vehicle system, wherein the illumination region of the illumination device has at least two illumination segments, one following the other in a spacing direction from the motor vehicle.
IN-VEHICLE DEVICE
An in-vehicle device includes: a parking state detector configured to detect a parking state of a vehicle; a vehicle cabin situation detector configured to detect a situation in a vehicle cabin of the vehicle; a child information detector configured to detect presence of a child and position information on the child in the vehicle cabin based on a signal from a sensor provided on a child seat in the vehicle cabin; a temperature information acquisition unit configured to acquire temperature information in the vehicle cabin; a notification unit configured to, when the child is left in the vehicle cabin, notify outside of the vehicle that leaving of the child has occurred; and a controller configured to, when the vehicle is in the parking state, control a notification mode of the notification unit according to information including the temperature information in the vehicle cabin.
Vehicular vision system
A vehicular vision system includes a sensor disposed at a vehicle and having a field of sensing exterior of the vehicle. The sensor captures sensor data. Electronic circuitry of an electronic control unit (ECU) includes a processor for processing sensor data captured by the sensor. Responsive to the vehicle being parked, captured sensor data is processed at the ECU to determine a topography of the environment at the parked vehicle. The ECU, responsive to determining the topography at the parked vehicle determines presence of a hazard of the topography. The ECU, responsive to determining presence of the hazard, notifies an occupant of the vehicle of the hazard prior to the occupant exiting the parked vehicle.
Electronic location system
A vehicle locating system that includes a hand-held remote unit associated with a user and a locator unit associated with a vehicle. The locator unit utilizes a GPS to store a location of the vehicle. The remote unit is selected from the group laptop computer, key ring, GPS watch, cellular telephone and PDA, and it utilizes a GPS to store a location of the user. The remote unit queries the locator unit to obtain the location of the vehicle, and then compares the location of the vehicle to its own location, whereupon the remote unit displays a direction for the user to travel in order to reach the vehicle.
ACOUSTIC WARNING SIGNAL DETECTION FOR MOTOR VEHICLES
A method for operating a motor vehicle having at least one sound sensor for detecting acoustic signals generated outside the vehicle includes the steps of detecting an acoustic signal by means of the sensor, classifying the detected acoustic signal as a warning signal if the detected signal has defined features, determining the speed of the vehicle, determining the steering angle of the vehicle, defining an action to be carried out by the motor vehicle in response to the detected warning signal, and carrying out the defined action if the speed of the motor vehicle undershoots a defined threshold value and the steering angle of the vehicle exceeds a defined threshold value. The defined action may be a steering and/or braking maneuver by the vehicle, and/or may be alerting a driver of the vehicle.
Pedestrian-Vehicle Safety Systems for Loading Docks
Pedestrian-Vehicle safety systems for loading docks are disclosed herein. An example safety system includes a first sensor to monitor a first area adjacent a dock, a bi-directional sensor to signal both incoming movement and outgoing movement of a vehicle relative to the dock, and an incoming sensor to signal only incoming movement of the vehicle relative to the dock. A signaling device is responsive to outputs of at least one of the first sensor, the bi-directional sensor, and the incoming sensor.
Dual-stage car finder
A vehicle location system includes a vehicle-based communication unit having a processor. The processor is configured to analyze request signals from a portable communication device. A first audible output device is configured to generate a first audible sound. A second audible output device is configured to generate a second audible sound. The sound generated by the second audible output device is a greater sound pressure than the first audible output device. The processor selectively enables one of the first audible output device and second audible output device based on the processor comparing a proximity characteristic of the request signals to a predetermined threshold.
Parking assist system for a vehicle and method of using the same
A parking assist system and method that uses one or more cameras on the side of a vehicle to provide modified video output to an electronic display unit that can assist a driver with parallel parking. The modified video output provides the driver with real time visual feedback of the position of the vehicle, with respect to a curb or other barrier, and may also indicate if the current position is compliant with local parking regulations, as determined based on the vehicle's current location. The modified video output includes one or more visual indicators that may be graphically superimposed over top of the video output from the side camera so that the driver can see in real time when the vehicle is or is not lawfully parallel parked.
VEHICLE PROXIMITY INDICATOR
Embodiments include a vehicle comprising an end facing an external object, at least one vehicle light positioned adjacent to the end and projecting a light pattern onto the object, a window adjacent to the end, and at least one proximity indicator coupled to the window at a predetermined position corresponding to an expected location of the light pattern on the object when the end is located a predetermined distance from the object. The proximity indicator can be removably adhered to the window. The light pattern can be visible through the window from a vehicle interior. In some embodiments, the object is positioned adjacent to a rear end of the vehicle and the at least one vehicle light is a rear vehicle light. In other embodiments, the object is positioned adjacent to a front end of the vehicle and the at least one vehicle light is a front vehicle light.
