Hearing evaluation and configuration of a hearing assistance-device
A method for evaluating hearing of a user comprising: generating a baseline hearing profile for the user comprising a set of gain values based on a volume setting, each gain value in the set of gain values corresponding to a frequency band in a set of frequency bands; accessing a soundbite comprising a phrase characterized by a frequency spectrum predominantly within one frequency band; playing the soundbite amplified by a first gain in the frequency band; playing the soundbite amplified by a second gain in the frequency band; receiving a preference input representing a preference of the user from amongst the soundbite amplified by the first gain and the soundbite amplified by the second; and modifying a gain value, corresponding to the frequency band, in the baseline hearing profile based on the preference input to generate a refined hearing profile compensating for hearing deficiency of the user.
Otoscope
An otoscope and method for visualizing compliance of the tympanic membrane in response to a pressure stimulus. The otoscope includes a handle, a housing, a laser assembly configured to selectively project a grid array of dots on a tympanic membrane of a patient, a camera configured to selectively capture activity of the tympanic membrane, a pressure transducer configured to selectively apply a stimulus to the tympanic membrane, a display pivotably coupled to the handle, and a controller. The display is configured to display the tympanic membrane in true color and a two-dimensional interpolated surface plot representing activity of the tympanic membrane in response to the stimulus.
Protective cover apparatus for an otoscope
A protective cover apparatus for an otoscope to serve as a barrier between the otoscope and an ear canal of a user is provided. The otoscope includes a camera body coupled to a camera head having an attachment groove. The protective cover apparatus includes an adapter with a tubular member that attaches to the camera head of the otoscope, a sleeve coupled to the adapter and having a central tubular member and an outer flared surface protruding from the top end of the central tubular member, and a cap coupled to the top end of the tubular member of the adapter and having a central opening that permits unobstructed access to the camera head of the otoscope.
