Autonomous system terminus assistance techniques

Various systems and methods for providing assistance at the end of an autonomous system journey are provided. A system can include an autonomous system configured to transport the user, a first sensor coupled to the autonomous system and configured to provide a sensor stream of an environment between the autonomous system and a terminus, and a terminus assistance processor mechanically coupled to the autonomous system. In an example, the terminus assistance processor can receive and process the sensor stream, detect and can track the user in the environment in response to the sensor stream, and can provide status information to a first mobile device based on the sensor stream.

VEHICLE EXTERIOR REARVIEW MIRROR SYSTEM WITH LIGHT MODULE

A vehicular lighted exterior rearview mirror system includes a lighted exterior rearview mirror assembly for mounting at a side of a vehicle. A light module is disposed at the lighted exterior rearview mirror assembly. The light module includes at least three illumination sources linearly arranged at a circuit board. When the at least three illumination sources are individually actuated, light emitted by each individual illumination source is emitted outboard away from the side of the vehicle. When the at least three illumination sources are actuated responsive to a first input, the light module emits light in a first pattern. With the lighted exterior rearview mirror assembly mounted at the side of the vehicle, and when the at least three illumination sources are actuated responsive to a second input, the light module emits light in a second pattern that is different from the first pattern.

Automotive lamp control

Apparatuses, methods, and computer-readable media for automotive lamp illumination control are provided. One example apparatus includes a first communication port, a controller device, and a memory. The memory stores instructions that, when executed by the controller device, cause the controller device to detect a user input command entered by way of one or more user input devices, determine whether the user input command corresponds to an action among a plurality of predetermined actions including at least one of commencing an illumination pattern, terminating the illumination pattern, or switching the illumination pattern, and, in a case where it is determined that the user input command corresponds to the action among the plurality of predetermined actions, cause the action to be executed.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DYNAMICALLY PROJECTING INFORMATION FROM A MOTOR VEHICLE

A method for projecting information from a motor vehicle to an observer external to the motor vehicle includes receiving, by a controller, a data signal indicative of an operating state of the motor vehicle from a sensor, determining, using the controller, a projection profile based on the data signal which includes a dynamic feature and indicative of a status of the motor vehicle, and continuously projecting the projection profile onto a surface on which the motor vehicle is traveling using a dynamic projector system that animates the dynamic feature.

User-following vehicle illumination system

A user-position-focused vehicle lighting system comprising a hardware-based processing unit and a non-transitory computer-readable storage device having a user-position-determination module that, when executed by the processing unit, determines a vehicle user position proximate a vehicle. The storage device also includes a vehicle-lighting-identification module that, when executed by the processing unit, determines, based on the vehicle user position, which of multiple vehicle lighting features should be illuminated, yielding a presently selected lighting feature. The storage device also includes a vehicle-lighting-activation module configured to, when executed by the processing unit, send a signal to the presently selected lighting feature to illuminate the presently selected lighting feature. In various embodiments, the technology includes the storage device separate from the processing unit, and processes performed by the system.

PERSONALIZED AMBIENT LIGHTING

According to one aspect, personalized vehicle ambient lighting on a vehicle is provided. Presence information associated with a user is detected. Image color information is captured from an image is taken by a camera such that the user is within the image. Image color information associated with the user is extracted from the image. Red, green, blue (RGB) color values indicative of a color associated with the user are created. A light emitting diode (LED) activation scheme based on the RGB color values associated with the user is generated. Portions of a plurality of RGB LEDs are activated based on the LED activation scheme.

HUMAN SCANNING FOR INTERIOR PREFERENCES SETUP

Systems and methods for human scanning for interior preference setup are disclosed. An example disclosed vehicle includes a target lamp on a side view mirror of the vehicle. The example vehicle also includes a scanning module. Additionally, the example vehicle includes an active scanning system configured to instruct the target lamp to project a position indicator a known distance from the vehicle, determine a joint structure based on an image of a person standing at the position indicator received from the scanning module, and adjust interior preference settings based on the detected joint structure.

Vehicle rear illumination

A vehicle is presented that includes a lift gate operably connected to a body and operable between open and closed positions. A taillight is positioned at a rear end of the body. A cargo lamp is positioned on an inboard surface of the taillight such that the cargo lamp is concealed when the lift gate is in the closed position.

Active lighting control for communicating a state of an autonomous vehicle to entities in a surrounding environment

Systems, apparatus and methods implemented in algorithms, software, firmware, logic, or circuitry may be configured to process data and sensory input to determine whether an object external to an autonomous vehicle (e.g., another vehicle, a pedestrian, a bicyclist, etc.) may be a potential collision threat to the autonomous vehicle. The autonomous vehicle may include a light emitter positioned external to a surface of the autonomous vehicle and being configured to implement a visual alert by emitting light from the light emitter. Data representing a light pattern may be received by the light emitter and the light emitted by the display may be indicative of the light pattern. The light pattern may be selected to gain the attention of the object (e.g., a pedestrian, a driver of a car, a bicyclists, etc.) in order to avoid the potential collision or to alert the object to the presence of the autonomous vehicle.
