An external mirror assembly for a vehicle includes a support arm adapted to be affixed to an associated vehicle side door, and a housing movably connected to the support arm via a pivoting structure. The pivoting structure is connected to the support arm and to a bracket supported within the housing. A seal member surrounds the connection of the housing to the support arm. The seal member includes a base at least partially compressed by one of the support arm and the housing. The seal member includes an outer periphery portion defining a first seal lip and an inner periphery portion defining a second seal lip. One of the first seal lip and the second seal lip is configured to sealingly engage the support arm and the other of the first seal lip and the second seal lip configured to sealingly engage the housing.

Disclosed are vehicle seal retainers, methods for making and methods for using vehicle seal retainers, and motor vehicles with pillar seal retainers. Disclosed, for example, is a seal retainer carrier for mounting a seal structure between the outer applique and body structure of a motor vehicle. The seal structure includes a flexible body with two seal lips. The outer applique has a tab and a flange. The seal retainer carrier includes a base attached to the vehicle's body structure. A first interface flange projects from the base and attaches to the outer applique's flange. A second interface flange projects from the base and includes a protruding rib attached to a second seal lip. This rib fits into a recessed groove of the seal structure such that the seal mounts between the outer applique and body structure with a hook of a first seal lip seated against the outer applique's tab.

Disclosed are vehicle seal retainers, methods for making and methods for using vehicle seal retainers, and motor vehicles with pillar seal retainers. Disclosed, for example, is a seal retainer carrier for mounting a seal structure between the outer applique and body structure of a motor vehicle. The seal structure includes a flexible body with two seal lips. The outer applique has a tab and a flange. The seal retainer carrier includes a base attached to the vehicle's body structure. A first interface flange projects from the base and attaches to the outer applique's flange. When the molding is in a mounting state where the molding is mounted to a flange, a tip end of the holding lip is positioned higher than an upper end of the flange and at the interior side than an exterior side surface of the flange, and the engaging portion is engaged with a lower end of the flange.

A vehicle body front structure includes a front pillar extending in an upward/downward direction, a front glass disposed further inward in a vehicle width direction of a vehicle body than the front pillar, a subsidiary glass disposed further outward in the vehicle width direction than the front glass, and a garnish configured to cover a gap provided between end portions of the front glass and the subsidiary glass, and to cover the front pillar from an outside of a passenger compartment. The garnish has an engaging section disposed in the gap between the end portions of the front glass and the subsidiary glass and standing up toward the front pillar, and the front pillar has a clip section to which the engaging section is able to engage.

A vehicle body front structure includes a front pillar extending in an upward/downward direction, a front glass disposed further inward in a vehicle width direction of a vehicle body than the front pillar, a subsidiary glass disposed further outward in the vehicle width direction than the front glass, and a garnish configured to cover a gap provided between end portions of the front glass and the subsidiary glass, and to cover the front pillar from an outside of a passenger compartment. The garnish has an engaging section disposed in the gap between the end portions of the front glass and the subsidiary glass and standing up toward the front pillar, and the front pillar has a clip section to which the engaging section is able to engage.
